Vehicle description
My wife calls this car The Bean . This is a rare car, maybe a collector"s item. Mitsubishi only sold 2,200 i-Mievs in the USA, from 2012 to 2017. This is a one owner car. I bought it brand new, in Portland, Oregon, in September of 2012. It has lived its whole life in Oregon.
This car has only 24,000 miles on it and it"s been well cared for. Never crashed, never had any body work done on it. Last summer, someone smashed the rear window and my insurance paid to replace the glass. It has some small dents and scratches, about what you"d expect for a car with 24K on it. Mechanically, it is in great condition. Everything works the way it should, no problems. I replaced the rear tires a couple years ago. The front tires may need to be replaced soon. I just had the brakes checked; they told me the brakes are fine. You might see a 2011 to 2013 Nissan Leaf for sale cheaper, but that"s almost always because they"ve been in a crash or their battery pack is so worn out that it only holds a half a charge. The battery pack on this Mitsubishi is in fine shape and it still holds a full charge. You can see in the photos, the charge meter shows full, 16 bars, with estimated 66 miles remaining - which is more than the EPA rating of 62. Right after that photo was taken, I drove it to the grocery store and back; the charge meter still showed 15/16 bars and the range meter said 63 miles remaining. That was after I had just driven it more than 10 miles.
Compared to other EVs, the Mitsubishi i-Miev is very user-friendly. The dash is simple and uncluttered. The controls are easy and familiar. It has a fuel gauge showing how much charge remains, from 0 to 16 bars. If you toggle past the trip odometer, it shows estimated miles remaining (based on how you"ve been driving lately). The car will have a longer lifespan if you stop and charge when you reach 25%. The fuel gauge starts flashing when you get down to 2 bars. At zero bars, range remaining is zero. Shortly after that, a yellow turtle icon lights up to remind you to drive slowly to your nearest charging station, because you"re using the reserve. At this point, you can still get several more miles out of it. Eventually, the car will shut off the motor to prevent damaging the battery pack. The point is, you get plenty of warnings before you"re in trouble. Acceleration is peppy. It goes up steep hills with no problem. I think they say the top speed is 83 mph but I never drove it faster than 75. I only have two small complaints. Mitsubishi heaters are kinda wimpy (although the A/C works just fine), and it doesn"t have cruise control. One thing I love is that it fits easily into small parking spaces, even though it has 4 doors.
This car is amazingly efficient . It takes about a dollar"s worth of electricity to charge the battery pack, and then you can go anywhere from 40 to 80 miles before you need to charge it again. Try doing that with a dollar"s worth of gasoline! The combined EPA fuel economy rating for this car is 112 miles per gallon equivalent. At the time I bought it, that was the highest rating the EPA had ever given to any car. I still have the original window sticker; it says 126 city and 99 highway. In other words, each bar on the charge meter gets you about 4 miles in the city or 3 miles on the highway. I often get 5 or 6 miles per bar, going 30-35 mph on back roads with no traffic. On March 3, 2021 (the day I took these photos) I drove it more than 10 miles to the grocery store and back. Afterwards, the charge meter still said 15 out of 16 bars and range remaining 63.
You have three options for charging this car. Suppose you plug in when the battery is at 25% and want to get to 75%. Level 1, 110V J1772 plug, it takes about 8 hours. You can do this at home, using the wall charger that comes with the car. It takes 8 kWh of electricity, which costs about $1 where I live. Plugging it in overnight works best. Level 2, 220V J1772 plug, about 2.5 hours (public charging station, like Blink or ChargePoint). Price depends on the location. Sometimes they charge you for the electricity (anywhere from $2 to $5 for 8kWh) but sometimes it"s free. Some places charge you for parking too, but most don"t. You can get one of these installed at your house for about $600, and then you only pay about $1 for the electricity. Level 3, 400V ChaDeMo plug, about 20 minutes (public charging station, like Blink or Aerovironment). Price might be the same as the 220V option. Other times, they charge a $5-$8 fee per use, or a flat monthly fee of $20 for unlimited uses.
The ChaDeMo port is standard on the SE trim level (with the Nav package). This is car is an ES but I paid $700 extra for the ChaDeMo option. There are only a handful of i-Mievs out there which don"t have the Nav package but do have the ChaDeMo option. This is one of them.
According to the EPA, this car has an estimated range of 62 miles from its 16 kWh battery pack. My experience is that it depends greatly on how fast you"re going, if you"re using the heater, whether it"s stop-and-go, up and down hills, etc. In flat city driving, I usually get 70 miles on a charge. On the interstate, more like 50 miles. That"s plenty for me. I rarely drive more than 15 miles in a single day.

This car is worth more than other i-MiEVs, because of the low miles, the condition of the battery pack, and the optional ChaDeMo fast charger port. I have a clean title in hand. I hope someone out there will love this car as much as I have.
I can deliver this car in Oregon, to anywhere between Eugene and Portland, for free. I can deliver it to Seattle, Washington, for $100. Beyond that, message me and I"ll give you a price for delivery.
