This has been an absolutely trouble free car from the first day. Zero issues, reliable and solid as an anvil. The Cayman S is a surprisingly good road trip car, the “frunk” hold more than you would expect and the rear cargo area is pretty big. Also, it actually gets pretty good mileage on the highway where we routinely saw better than 29MPG when maintaining a “reasonable cruising speed”. I t’s a nice bonus that the trip to the twisties is comfortable, reliable, and easy.
There are some minor paint chips in the front as would be expected of a car that’s driven more than just from a garage to “cars and coffee”. However, overall the paint is generally smooth and glossy with no dents, dings, or scratches. The interior likewise has a couple of the usual wear spots on hard corners around the cargo shelf but otherwise is in absolutely terrific condition. I updated the climate control and replaced the front panel with an updated version (all OEM Porsche). The round puck on the right side of the center stack is a magnetic phone holder (works great). This Cayman S has been loved and cared for and should now go to a new home so others can experience the joys of a naturally aspirated, horizontal flat SIX, and a six-speed manual.
Answers to commonly asked questions:
How many miles on the tires?: apps 3,000. I typically get around 30k miles on the Pilots When were the brakes done?: The rotors and pads were changed when the tires were changed 3k miles ago. They are Porsche OEM “Big Red” rotors and Cayman Type R pads Oil changes?: every 5k miles with Mobile1. I have installed the oil filter adapter to be able to use standard oil filters and will include some spares with the car Car Cover?: Yes, a quality indoor car cover is included (I usually have it covered if I’m not using it for a while) Original clutch?: yes, and still strong. Picks up cleanly and zero slippage Is the headliner still attached? (Not sure where this comes from, but a couple folks asked): yes, the headliner is perfect as seen in the pics Are the wheels painted/plastidipped/sprayed?: No, these are black from the factory. They are a factory baked on finish, trying to “remove the black” would destroy the wheels. They were ordered as dealer installed options when the car was new and were originally an option on the 996 model 911 Turbo. Rear lights?: They are aftermarket LED with smoke lenses. The LEDs are much brighter than stock and I think the smoked lenses compliment the midnight blue body. Front LED running lights?: Yes, those are aftermarket LED light strips in the front replacing the frog eyes. I heard you have a Durametric Pro Porsche Analyzer, true?: Yes, true! AND, it is going with the car! ( http:/ www.durametric.com/ ) Are those little paint chips on the front bumper?: Yes. Although 98% of the paint is basically flawless (as seen in the pictures), there are some small chips in the front. This car was very well maintained, but it was also driven. Chips happen when you drive. What is the official color name?: Midnight Blue Metallic, Sand Beige interior Where was the cover photo taken?: That is taken about .5 mile before the “Overlook” at the Tail of the Dragon. The photos were taken by Killboy ( https:/ www.killboy.com/ )
