Vehicle description
* Price Drop * The paint is exceptional, and don"t be put off by the mileage. it looks like it has 2000 miles on, and runs like it has 50k miles on it.
This 2006 Jaguar XKR convertible has all the options, including the rare Recaro seats, CATS suspension, FLIR cruise control, and big red Brembo brakes. In great condition, no rips or tears in the interior. trunk looks perfect. . under the hood is super clean. . undercarriage clean and rust free.
The car received a full, professionally done paint-job in 2014. The color is "ultimate black", which is a Jaguar OEM paint-code. The paint looks "much better" than OEM spec and has been detailed only once since the paint was applied (it hasn"t been driven much since then either, no rock chips or any scratches). This means the paint can be confidently detailed for years to come. The car also has Arden lower rocker panels to give it a lower look. The ride is set to OEM height and can clear speed-bumps and driveways, just go slowly over them. It has a Borla exhaust which sounds great. Jaguar stated this thing does 0-60 in 4.4 seconds, which is the same as a Porsche 911 GT3 RS from the same year. . I"ve always been gentle with it taking off, but I confirm it is a rocket on the highway.
When the car was painted we removed the OEM trunk-lid spoiler, deleted the trunk key-hole, and the telescoping radio antenna, and de-badged the car, except for discrete oval leapers on the fenders. The original "XKR" centercaps were removed and replaced with red-background growlers that match the fender leapers. I also removed the rear wheel arch "spats". The "spats" can be re-installed if you want to put wider rear-wheels on. The "afterthought" OEM third brake light was an abomination, so I removed it prior to the paint-job, and replaced it with an LED one in the rear-license plate frame to pass safety inspection. it looks "less bad" than the OEM one.
The car originally had 20" wheels, but the original owner installed the 18" chrome bins it currently rides on. The wheels have some pitting in the chrome, and a few scrapes. I had a quote to restore them for $2000 a couple of years ago. Coventry wheels would also be a good option.
The OEM grille was taken off, and replaced with a black, Mina-gallery grille. . recessed by 2" to give it a subtly different look from stock . . the matching lower grille was also added. The underlying metal bumper itself was not modified. The original antenna, XKR and growler badges, trunk-lid spoiler, original third brake light, and the rear wheel arch "spats", are included loose.
I replaced the HID ballasts and headlight bulbs last year, as one was on the blink. . the ones I removed were original to the car, so clearly they last a good while. Had a 100k mile service in 2013. . I changed the fuel-pump in 2014, cleaned the intakes and replaced the MAF sensor at that time also. New battery installed in 2017. Kept on a trickle-charger, and the alternator / electrical system works fine. It has factory bluetooth, sat-nav, and factory Alpine sound-system with CD changer and subwoofer. . the original owner also wired it for XM radio, and put an on/off switch for that in the arm rest cubby. . XM can be brought back to life if you like that sort of thing.
Brakes and tires will be due to be replaced this summer. Hydraulic top works but slow, no leaks, but is due for a flush and re-fill. Canvas top was re-dyed black in 2014 and has always been garaged.
These cars are getting rare. especially the end-of-the-run "05 / "06 XKRs. . I see only one other comparable XKR for sale on line at the moment. It has fewer miles, but doesn"t have all the options. I also have a "matching" 1995 Jaguar XJS V12 Coupe with low miles which is also for sale. They make a nice pair in a collection. I"m downsizing as we"re moving.
