Vehicle description
I purchased this vehicle from the original owner earlier this year for the specific purpose of driving it from where I moved to (NC) back to where I moved from (upstate NY) to get my 5x8 enclosed trailer filled with my belongings and drive it back to NC. It is a fantastic vehicle but I no longer need it.
This Pilot EX-L is top of the line for 2005 except no navigation system. It has the factory tow package, heated leather seats/side mirrors, third row seating, and the upgraded 3.5L VTEC V6 which has plenty of power. I think this is the best looking Pilot (pre-"06 facelift) and it has the more powerful engine than the earlier ones. Best year IMO!
The quirks: One of the tire pressure monitors occasionally will throw a check light, even though the pressures are OK. Does not impact vehicle function.
There are two separate keys for it: Main remote key will unlock the doors electronically and start the ignition. Second key will mechanically unlock all doors and hatch, nothing else. Second key has been put in a hide-a-key (included) that is slid into the trailer hitch receiver.
Steering wheel leather, center console armrest leather and drivers seat leather are both a bit worn.
The good: Original owner purchased, serviced, and traded in this vehicle all at ONE dealer for 2005-2018: AutoNation Honda of West Knoxville, TN, which is where I bought it from earlier this year. Every single service record is documented in CarFax (! ). The original owner kept meticulous care of this car and it shows. Excellent cosmetic condition overall, save for the driver"s seat which is a bit worn (see pics)7 Brand new tires New alignment and balance New oil change + filter New cabin air filter New custom-fit, high quality sunshade New power steering pump (preventative, done by me, original one started to leak. $1K job) New front swaybar bushings New front rotors Interior detailed in June 2018 Hitch wiring works perfect Heat and A/C work perfectly Heated seats work perfectly, as do the heated mirrors and rear defrost
The vehicle was in great shape when I bought it, and I did a couple of things to get it perfect mechanically before reselling it (power steering pump, swaybar bushings, rotors, oil/cabin filter). It drove up to NY and back from NY (with trailer) without a hitch.
This car drives like it has 50,000 miles, don"t let the odometer scare you. These Pilots are known to go over 500K with normal maintenance. The new swaybar bushings really tightened up the front end. .it drives great. It is a solid example of Honda"s golden era of quality. It is fully serviced, ready to go, and I"d have no reservations driving it across the country. It is effectively a one-owner vehicle. If the vehicle fit my lifestyle better, I would keep it, but as I said I only bought it in order to move my trailer + things more cheaply than renting a UHaul or paying a shipping company, etc. Just looking to recoup what I put into it, plus or minus.
Ask any questions you may have. Thanks for looking!
