Vehicle description

For sale – NO RESERVE! A very rare 6.0L Volkswagen Phaeton with Split Rear Seats (Four Place Seating). VW only imported the W12 6.0 liter Phaeton in 2004. VW imported fewer than 1,000 cars making the 6.0L Phaeton a rare car. But rarer still is the split rear seat 6.0 model (two rear bucket seats) with fewer than 66 imported, according to Midland Motor Cars, LLC, Amana, IO. The photo spread shows the elegance and comfort of the extended wheelbase (the Phaeton was the prototype for the Bentley Continental GT, the Bentley Flying Spur (also with Four Place Seating), and the very rare Audi A8L W12). Each rear bucket is completely adjustable, and VW added foot rests for passengers with legs a little shorter than the 6’6” passenger it can easily accommodate. The fundamentals: Tan exterior; black leather interior in very good condition Wood burl interior in very good condition, slight cracking on shift console. Four wheel drive; tires aprx. 60% tread left. 155mph top speed (limited) Front airbag suspension has failed; needs repair; car must be towed. Engine light is probably oxygen sensors Engine is very strong; transmission is good, shifts cleanly. Both fuel pumps replaced apx. 9 months ago. Engine fans replaced and cooling system overhauled about a year ago. Two key sets Complete owner’s manual. Driving impressions: Great breeding; the car moves very quickly and with great assurance. Good handling and very fast lane change especially impressive for a +5,000 lb car. Very long “legs”; rock solid @110mph. You never “feel” like you’re going particularly fast. Stuff around you is doing the “moving”. The extraordinary quiet is remarkable. There is SOME outside noise coming in, but you don’t care. It is a great pleasure to just … drive fast in a very quiet cabin. Most of the time I prefer the quiet to anything from the sound system. Adding to the rarity is the comfort of the rear seat buckets and the extra leg room. How’s this for “cool” … the rear head restraints go up when you sit in the rear buckets, and … down … when you leave. It’s a very special car. Why am I selling? Family issues ….
