Vehicle description
Please contact me with questions before bidding. This is a 2 owner car. It is the non turbo version. The body and interior are in excellent condition. It has a few very small dents. I have owned it a little over 4 years, and bought it from a friend. I have put about 80,000 miles on it, and they are mostly highway miles. I have a 25 mile one-way rural highway drive to work. This is a very fun car to drive, and with the all-wheel drive it is excellent in slick road conditions or dirt roads. It performed very well on the Pike"s Peak road in Colorado. I have hauled a canoe on top, as well as plywood and other lumber. The original owner put a trailer hitch on it. It has a Pioneer stereo (but original speakers). It has aluminum wheels, and I have the original wheels and hubcaps.
The timing belt was replaced at 105,000 miles. The water pump was replaced at that time, but it was faulty and leaked. A new water pump was installed last Fall. It had a new radiator installed just over a year ago. New plugs and wires were installed at the beginning of the year. It has always run on Mobil 1 synthetic oil, and was last changed about 2000 miles ago. We replaced the brake pads and I think the rotors since we purchased it. Other than oil changes and the items listed, it has basically required no maintenance.
It does have a few issues:
Many older Subarus develop engine head gasket leaks. This one has a very minor leak. In the last 6 months, I have put in no more than a quart of coolant. I drive it a minimum of 50 miles per day. I have had a shop in Wichita check it out, and the mechanic said to keep driving it, but check the coolant level.
It has a cracked windshield.
It has developed a hum that I think is coming from the rear of the car. It occurs in the low 50s mile per hour range. It could be noise from a CV drive line.
The check engine light came on and stayed on for the original owner. It is something like a gas vapor sensor around the filler cap. It sometimes goes off, but is generally on. I occasionally take it to a parts store to have the codes checked to see if anything else has popped up. The only dent of any significance is at the top of the passenger side windshield pillar. I was putting a piece of plywood on top and the wind caught it.
When it was taken in for its first oil change, the drivers door was open and was hit. The Subaru dealership replaced the door and fender. All these years later, there is no difference in the paint. It looks great. That is the only damage it has had.
