Vehicle description
2003 was the 50th anniversary of the Corvette. GM wanted to do something special to commemorate it and an engineer designed a 1953 body replica on a new C5 frame. They ran out of runway to be able to get it manufactured, but the engineer left and his company, Advanced Automotive Technologies (ATT), offered it to Corvette customers.
( Advanced Automotive Technologies of Rochester Hills, Michigan, has become well known within the Corvette community for its 1953-2003 Commemorative Edition conversions for C5 Corvettes designed by AAT founder Steve Pasteiner. A graduate of Art Center College of Design, Steve spent 22 years with General Motors Design staff, eventually becoming the Assistant Chief Designer for Buick 2 studios and later Chevrolet 1, before leaving to establish Advanced Automotive Technologies. The Commemorative Edition Corvette blends the classic "50s-era styling of the 1953 Corvette with the performance, comfort, and technology of C5 convertibles and fixed-roof coupes, using meticulously engineered and crafted replacement body panels.) This was a brand new 50th Anniversary Edition C5 Corvette convertible and it was ship ped directly to AAT. The C5 had a lot of cool commemorative detail . Equipped with a F55 Magnetic Selective Ride Control Suspension was standard on the 1SC-equipped Anniversary Edition vehicles. Special ("Warm Nickel Metallic") painted aluminum wheels, embroidered upholstery trim, and badges completed the Anniversary Edition package. Also included were all the convenience options offered on the upscale Corvette models such as the head-up display. AAT removed the frame and replaced it with the 1953 replica body. The actual original was white with red interior, but it was changed to black with oak interior, all professionally done. The Black paint is like a mirror, as shown.
Added was a Pioneer stereo system with a 6.2" display screen with Apple car play November 2020. AC works great!
This Corvette is #88 of only 200 1953 Commemorative Editions produced and one of the few that had the 50th Anniversary Edition C5 as its frame. They rarely come up for sale and most are owned by their original owners. Jay Leno owns one!
