Vehicle description
This is an uncommonly fine car. I bought it from its first and only owner’s estate. Alan was Canadian by birth and a true gentleman, friend and neighbor for about five years before he passed away in July of this year. I had admired Alan and his low-mileage Mazda for a long time. When he passed away, I got my name at the head of a list of interested buyers. His daughter sold it to me about two months ago. Alan bought the car new when he was age 75. That was 17 years ago. An Electrical Engineer by profession, Alan was the only owner and sole driver of the car until I purchased it. He obsessively maintained the car and kept a detailed record of every service event and those records are comprehensive and available. The records will convey with the car. The maintenance records reveal an owner whose idea of maintenance was preventative, comprehensive and fastidious. This was going to be my personal car as my wife is quite possessive of her Prius. However, we have recently received an assignment that will take us to Vietnam in January. I don’t want to store the car for that long, so it is now for sale. I have a clear Utah title in my name. In preparation for the sale, I took the car to Mazda of Orem (Utah) and gave them a blanket order (generally not wise) to fix anything that had not been looked at and known to require replacement or servicing. This kind of open-book service request cost me $1,400 and I have the receipt. • Sept. 6, 2019 - $1449.60; new idle control valve, replace all solenoids, all top end gaskets (valve covers, intake manifold, and all related hoses); full service including full synthetic oil, air and oil filters, lube chassis. (the report notes that tires, brakes, and battery all have more than 50% expected life remaining. Here are additional details about the Mazda Millenia and about this particular car. First, a little history might be helpful for those unfamiliar with the Millenia S. First of all, it was optionally equipped with Mazda’s Miller cycle engine (“S” designation) which was years ahead of its time. It produced 210bhp and 210 lb ft of torque and was rated at 24mpg—exciting driver but economical, too. Although these figures aren’t overly impressive by today"s standards, the Millenia S was one of the most efficient and sporty sedans of the late-1990s and early 2000s. Remember, the Millenia S is a front-wheel-drive vehicle meaning that you are not going to spin off the road when snow and ice appear or fail to make it up that hill. If you would like to read reviews of the Millenia at the time it was introduced you will find this to be an enlightening expert summary of Mazda’s new luxury model: https:/ www.chicagotribune.com/news/ct-xpm-1994-04-18-9404180055-story.html All of Alan"s maintenance receipts are available and there is a good inch and a half of them. Here are just some among the many things I learned from his maintenance record: • Mar. 25, 2014 - $1147.86; replaced the water pump and timing belt; • Jan. 9, 2013 - $1,263.68; replaced catalytic converter and oxygen sensor; • Nov. 21, 2012 - $$745.69; four new Yokahama tires installed; • Nov. 15, 2011 - $172.29; replaced the vacuum hoses; • Sep. 29, 2010 - $770/84; four new Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S tires installed; There is much more. At some point, Alan bought new wheels for the car. He had a lifetime wheel alignment program and had the front end aligned several times. The interior is grey leather and is almost impossibly clean and perfect. This car has never been in a wreck or had a fender bender or been repainted—ever, so far as I can tell. I can’t warranty that but there are no records indicating body or panel repair. On the topic of warranty, I can offer none and don’t. The car is sold as is where is. I am not a Mazda expert or any kind of automotive expert. If there is anything wrong with this car it might be that the idle has been set a bit low so that when the AC is on at idle, the engine isn’t happy. There is some paint peeling from the passenger side rearview mirror. I have no idea why. This is an inexpensive repair. The four-speed automatic transmission is fine and shifts firmly. That is the way sporty sedans were designed—it lets you know when it shifts. There is a full tank of gasoline and I will not be driving the car between now and the time it sells.
Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer. I will be available to provide as much help as possible to make sure that the car is properly loaded and safely on its way. I have no idea what the cost of shipping will be. Thanks but no trades for obvious reasons. And, thanks, but I don"t require help to sell the car. Thanks for looking.
