Vehicle description

2002 Nissan Xterra XTREME XTRXESC/SE (OEM) 3.3L Supercharged Generation 1 OEM Special Edition (sometimes called the Colorado version)
After putting 287K on my 2001 Xterra and seeing it go bye bye due to a front end fender bender - I then found this.
* * IF XTERRA GEN1 DIDN"T MAKE YOU SMILE, BEST YOU MOVE ON. . THIS IS GEN1 STUFF YOU WOULDN"T UNDERSTAND * *
The supercharger makes all the difference in that anemic 3.3L engine. I now chase down 3 Series Beamers and beat them out of the corner too. This semi-off road racing version is made for these D/FW crap highways. I take the lane y"all hate, I have learned to love this little trucklette and soon realized that I was no longer saving for retirement - I was saving for bail. . waay too much fun here.
Then I got a water leak - that pain in the butt one tucked up by the thermostat. . and if you think the normal one is difficult, that supercharger sure gets in the way. The bottom line: wasn"t paying attention one day, grooving on the earbuds, the water got low, the temp got high and she stopped on the side of the highway - overheated to a stop.
Poopers. . red lights all over the place.
Hey Xterra fans - 30 minutes later she started back up. WHAT A BEAST, but. . she didn"t like to idle. Not until revs above 2000 would she smooth out to an even idle. Yup - you guessed it - I blew a head gasket or warped a head - minor water in the oil/nothing too extensive, but still.
To us Gen 1 folks, this is just an opportunity to build a new engine, and I was headed in that direction until I was reassigned to Italy.
I"m not taking this baby over there, so. . someone finish this for me please. Built-rite shocks are already on all four corners and all undercarriage bushings have already been replaced. The last front end alignment was done by a guy that understood the term "getaway car" and did a phenomenal job of toeing it all in. This puppy now tracks and corners like. . well, better than many 300 Series BMW"s obviously.
The engine - nobody rebuilds part of a 200K engine when you can buy a complete one out here for $2340 FOB your dock - unless this is your trade. The engine was strong, but blowing oil; supercharger is strong without any bearing whine,; the AC is ice cold and the interior - check the pictures - but for a few issues that most would know about, it"s in pretty good shape. Limo tint is on all rear windows.
Other issues:
The power brake booster - dead/needs to be replaced.
The interior heater core - bypassed at the engine when it started to leak. This does not affect the AC but no heat is available.
The radio - never worked - someone plugged the hole with the wrong model when I bought it and I never worried about it. Earbuds worked just fine plus I was waiting for Airplay to come down below $200 - it now is.
Feel free to ask questions - I am open to offers. If you"re not a Gen 1 guy/gal, pass me by - this is not for you. If you are - let"s talk. This one should be somebody"s keeper. This steroidal Xterra is too much fun for someone not to have.
Bonus points - notice the metal XTREME badges - they come with. Apply at your own risk - they are quite popular but very hard to find. The original XTREME decals can be found anywhere/everywhere but these original badges are rare.
Service manuals have been printed out and are included but not bindered - see photos of boxes. Back seat clothes hanger bar, fire extinguisher, battery air pump, new loud horns, and a bunch of other little things that I have found that are Xterra related.
Local pickup - she rolls just fine but does not run. There is a brand new battery but the starter seems to have issues now - most likely burned out by my mechanic when he tried to justify not working on this. He"s not an Xterra guy. . go figure.
UPDATE: Just noticed on the vehicle report there is a theft report. . Well, there is a great story about that, and it involves out of country flights and probably too much alcohol.
T"is a hilarious story about a bright yellow SUV parked on the main street of Uptown Dallas for over a week while it was on the DPD hotsheet - and it was never found by the police. Bottom line: I drank and didn"t drive. . didn"t even remember taking a car to get there. Flew out very early the next day and reported it as stolen as a precaution recommended by cop-friend. Found it when I got home - untouched, right were I left it on "main street", which is good because had I not passed it in the return taxi, I wouldn"t have known where to look.
Don"t drink & drive folks. .
