Vehicle description
This was going to be my daily driver after my lease in my other car was up, but someone gave me another car im more interested in. Started doing work to it to get it ready for the road. Engine is smooth with NO service lights on. 205HP engine. probably doesnt have 205 anymore, but it still has some pull. Everything works except for headlight wipers. Has ABS, Traction control, winter and sport modes, one touch down power windows, keyless entry (only comes with one key), fog lights (one has lost its chrome inside), Heres a list of what was done:
Replaced transmission with used unit that had 82k miles at 162,000 ($200). Front struts & rear shocks ($100) Strut mounts & bump stop ($60)
lower control arms and stanchion arms ($160) sway bar links ($13) tie rod ends and inner tie rod bushings ($45) correct NGK spark plugs ($40) brake booster vacuum hose ($30) both wheel bearings and hubs ($140) 4 quarts of full synthetic Mobil 1 & oil filter ($35)
I am not going to be doing any more work to this car, and its is being sold as is. Ill do my best to list what it needs to the best of my knowledge.
There is an oil leak on the timing cover. its very common on this engine. seems to only happen when RPMs are kept high. already did the PCV update, so its not that. Its anywhere from a couple drops to a 2 inch circle.
needs tires. theyre the 17 inch ones. the tires that are on there now are very noisey.
needs alignment. I did a preliminary alignment with a tape measure and its fine with the junk tires.
Climate display has a defect and the main display above radio is missing pixels. theres a service on ebay thatll fix them. wasnt a big deal to me. can still sorta make out what it says.
whoever owned the car before never treated the top. the frame has rust, but still works. the pistons (not sure which ones) are leaking when top is put down. i only had to add hydraulic oil once, maybe about 3 oz. top stops once or twice on its way down probably because its missing a microswitch. does successfully open. closes without problems.
I did treat the top 6 months ago with 6 dollar spray from walmart and should probably be done again. . . recommended by a saab enthusiast site. there is a tiny hole in the top (see pic), but i did seal it with top repair tape on the inside.
passenger door, just above trim, clear coat was peeling, so I attempted to fix it. sanded off as much of it as i could then hit it with clear coat. looks better than it did, but not perfect. there are scratches in paint. some might buff out. i dont wanna do any more work to it to find out.
I did put a 3.5mm input jack on the radio, but it needs a music CD in the deck to work. not the best method, but better than not having one at all. changing this radio out is a PITA. the previous owner did have a half depth double din in it in the past. they gave me the radio wiring adapter and it will go with the car. the speakers all suck. not very loud. factory amp that controls the door speakers is terrible.
windshield has spider crack. see photo. havent tried to fix it. isnt growing.
needs brake booster vacuum pump. its 220 bucks new. very easy to replace. brakes get hard sometimes and you gotta really press down. its a complicated circuit. . has to do with the turbo.
only comes with one key. theyre very expensive and almost nearly impossible to get.
center console is broken. probably can be glued or screwed.
anything else i can think of, ill add later. I encourage you to contact me and ill give you my number for any questions you might have.
Can be driven. Title is clear. Just passed connecticut emissions. I do drive it daily so mileage will go up. Gets around 30mpg highway and 18 around town.
500 Deposit due within 24 hours to paypal. Rest to be paid in person in cash.
