Vehicle description
I bought this car for my daughter 2 years ago. It is a great little car, in very nice shape with just around 85k miles. Has no body damage or rust.
Unfortunately, it looks like the timing chain broke, which caused internal damage to the engine. It turns over, but won"t start, and sounds funny trying to start it. My mechanic said that is because the camshaft and crankshaft are no longer synced together - which usually results in damage to pistons or valves, etc. He recommended not even spending money having him tear into it, because it will likely be more expensive than I would want to pay to repair - so I really don"t know exactly how bad the engine is. Could be just some valves, could be pistons, etc. Definitely just internal mechanics. Could be torn into and overhauled - or may need a replacement engine.
I don"t have the ability to overhaul this engine myself. If you do, you can have a great little convertible on the cheap. The power top works perfectly. Air conditioning, power windows, etc - everything else works well. Mild interior wear. Everything else in the engine compartment is fine - radiator, alternator, etc - it is just the internals that get effected. Had no problems with this car prior to this.
I just put 2 new tires on this last year, and they probably have 1-2k miles on them. The other 2 are not new, but still good for a couple years.
It looks like I could easily take out just the headlights, tail lights, and side mirrors and resell them on ebay for about $500. I could scrap what"s left for at least $500 - or more if I want to let my kids tear into it and part it out. So it"s worth at least $1000 with pretty minimal effort. I hate to scrap such a low mileage cute little car, and would rather sell it to someone that can either fix it, or at least use a lot of the parts if they happen to have a wrecked one.
It doesn"t run (obviously) but can be rolled easily in neutral, so getting it onto a trailer should not be too hard.
Any questions, ask. If you need picture of anything specifically, just let me know. Thanks.
I listed this on ebay a few months ago, but pulled it when it sold via a different site. However, despite sending a deposit, that guy never showed up - apparently due to health issues - so I am relisting it.
