Up for sale is a very rare and highly sought after 2002 Jaguar XJR-100. It is one of only 500 special edition XJR-100 cars built to commemorate the 100th anniversary of company founder William Lyons’ birth. According to most sources, only about 250 XJR-100’s made it to the US and the rest were distributed to the rest of the world. Some sources actually claim that only about 100 made it to the US. The special equipment XJR-100 anniversary cars are all finished in Anthracite over a charcoal grey interior with red stitching, and feature several other cosmetic and equipment differences from the standard XJR. The window trim and gutters are black rather than chrome, and the wheels are multi-piece items sourced from BBS. These 3 piece BBS "Montreal" wheels today are extremely rare and highly sought after in the Jaguar community with excellent examples fetching $3 to $4 thousand just for the wheels. Based on the R1 package XJR, the XJR-100 also featured an upgraded suspension and much bigger brake calipers and cross drilled disks along with the mentioned 19″ BBS Montreal alloy wheels. The car is powered by a 370 HP/387 ft. lbs. of torque 4.0L supercharged V8 paired to an from the factory sourced Mercedes 5-speed automatic transmission. Jaguar having been under Ford management in 2002, this XJR series is known to be extremely reliable and dependable easily qualifying for a daily driver. The current and second owner is a very meticulous Jaguar enthusiast and truly cherished and babied the car by religiously maintaining it and keeping it properly garaged. He purchased the vehicle in 2007 as a certified vehicle from an Orange County CA Jaguar Dealer and is offering the car with all its original books and records along with three sets of keys. With only 57.000 original miles and all original paint work and interior, this XJR-100 example is exceptionally well preserved and truly stands out in a crowd of many used and abused XJR’s. All systems work properly and as intended and the car is ready to be enjoyed reliably by its new owner. I am a car enthusiast with a great passion for European specialty vehicles of which I have several of my own. I am listing this vehicle for a friend of mine whom I have known for over 20 years, as he is not well versed in vehicle listings/auctions. In all honesty the pictures do the car no proper justice as it shows so much nicer in person. Looking at the car and driving it, I honestly cannot believe how much, performance, excitement, style and value it has to offer at this very low and for now still affordable price point of under $20K. If you are trying to price this XJR-100, please make sure not to compare it to regular XJ"s examples as there have been tens of thousands produced. As such, using regular value guides as Kelly Blue Book is not realistic as they do not factor in this cars" very limited production numbers. After having done some research, I am convinced that by being such a rare and limited production car in exceptional low mile condition, it will surely appreciate in value especially now that the car has turned 20 years old.
