Vehicle description
My husband has had this car for 2 years. It was bought from our neighbor. It is a nice solid little convertible that is a fun drive. The Delaware registration is good until March 2020. The finish, interior trim and upholestery is in remarkable condition. There are no dings or scratches that I could find and most of the upholestry looks new, especially the back seats. One of the owners before my neighbor was supposedly the daughter of a mechanic at the sports car shop that had previously been a Saab dealership. That might explain the condition although as I mentioned, it could be made better.
It runs well and has been kept in good condition with regular oil changes and various repairs (such as motor mounts being replaced) during our tenure. At the last oil change, my husband asked to have the radiator flushed. The mechanic called back and told us that it failed the pressure test and needed the radiator to be replaced (we have had very little to no leaking of note.) The rear brake job we requested an estimate for was the more expensive part of the estimate($1000.) It has a Delaware inspection sticker valid until March 2020 . We live near the PA border so anyone from PA wanting to purchase it could take it to a nearby PA mechanic to see if it will meet PA inspection standards. We were also told that the pully (?) assembly on the condenser, [supposedly] repaired by our mechanic last summer was not operating properly and that we should take it back to him.
To make a long story short, we can"t do any work ourselves and haven"t been able to find a mechanic who can work on it reasonably and reliably. We think the car would be better for someone mechanically inclined or for someone who wants to sell the parts. For example, the wheels are all authentic Saab alloy, the soft top is in good condition (it has been garage kept for the last few years at least.) With few exceptions, the luxurious leather interior is in very good, clean condition and the engine and transmission feel solid.
Test drives can be scheduled as time permits.
