Vehicle description
2001 Honda Insight
The challenge when buying one of these unique and special cars, is that at this point, many of their owners are trying to be as frugal as possible with them - especially when it comes to repairs.
Imagine someone literally throwing new parts at a car - OEM Honda parts - rather than trying to find the cheap way out? Because since we"ve taken stewardship of this wonderful little car, it"s only had the best. Whenever something seemed to wear - we went and got OEM/Factory Honda parts (except the leather interior, which is a nice upgrade).
This is just some of what has been repaired/replaced over the past 12 years that we"ve owned it: - All fluids including power brakes and coolant regularly changed
- All sensors repaired - Brakes - Rotors - Springs - Shocks - Calipers - Radiator - Water pump - Fuel pump
- Steering wheel - Shift knob - Inside mirror - Instrument panel face - Door handles - Correct coded spark plugs - precisely installed at the appropriate gap and angle - Rebuilt top half of motor
- New $5k paint job 4 years ago still looks terrific
- Beautiful Katzen leather interior 3 years ago
- Great tires - On and on and on
Catalytic converters threw a code last year and those are $1600. People try get away with cheaper catalytic converters but those are a hassle with how the engine runs, and with codes.
Aftermarket stereo with clock and USB. We had an ipod connected.
NO LEAKS. I will not stand for anything leaking on my driveway nor garage floor and have had this car worked on repeatedly to ensure no leaks whenever one drop of anything showed on the ground.
Also, I don"t like broken nor missing tabs, clips, under-carriage trays, etc, so I was a regular at the local Honda dealer whenever one went missing. Even something as minor as the clip that retains the hood prop was replaced when part of it was broken.
In viewing this listing, I see the carfax shows a minor accident. I"m surprised that it even showed up. The person behind us at a stoplight was texting and her car was drifting forward, and literally "bumped" into us. Her license plate was crooked which tore a hole in the bumper cover. There was no other damage - nothing to the glass hatch nor the taillights nor even the actual bumper beneath. I had a new Honda bumper cover professionally finished and installed. But I guess that filing a police report and stating that the part and refinishing would cost about $750, triggered that notation on the carfax.
All mechanical work done by A&H Automotive (Acura and Honda) in Delray Beach, FL. Highest recommendation if someone in Florida buys it.
We are selling the Insight because yet another car came into the House this spring and the Insight has been sitting in the back of a garage unused for a few months now. I took it out for the first time four weeks ago and the IMA light came on. Currently it has the best HybridRevolt battery available and it is about 3 years old. I re-set the the 12v battery and the light went away but it will likely come back. Use a grid-charger or especially a discharger and you should be fine.
This is a really nice car - nearly perfect save for the current IMA concern. Fix that and you"ll have another 12 amazing years in a super nice Insight.
Title-in-hand. Cash-only.
Thanks.
