Vehicle description

Up for sale is our 2001 BMW 740i M-Sport. This has been the shop car for Miller Racing Development for the last year and half, going through multiple iterations and ending here with its best setup yet. It has about 3000 miles on it since being built, enough to iron out the kinks and prove to us that it could be sold to a new owner. As far as we know, this is the highest horsepower E38 BMW in existence. (Please correct me if wrong)
Miller Racing Development specializes in building GM LS V8 swapped BMWs for a variety of racing disciplines. This was our idea of a mean street car that we would love to have ourselves and had not seen built by anyone else. Our goal was to build a car that kept the original character and aesthetic of the BMW, but with the power it deserves. While Miller Racing built this BMW, many other fabricators and builders have contributed to this project in one way or another.
We chose this donor 740i for a few reasons. It has a Clean Title, 2001 was the last year of the E38 here in the US, it has a short wheelbase, it is well optioned, and it is an M-Sport.
Since being built this car has spent a couple days on the dyno (dyno videos and graphs in ad), and just last weekend completed a 500 mile round-trip drive in 100+ degree heat without issue. On 91 pump gas, the car made just over 620whp on a Dyno Dynamics dyno with the previous full exhaust, so it should be around ~650whp with the larger, bumper-exit exhaust it currently has. The car has been tuned twice by Kenny Sampson of TurboGixxerTuning in Seattle, WA. He is one of the best and most proficient tuners in the PNW and is currently at Pikes Peak tuning competition cars.
The engine is a 5.7L aluminum block LS V8 out of a 2001 Corvette. The aluminum block LS engines are about 100lbs lighter than their cheaper iron counterparts, but we believed the weight savings was worth it in this case. The engine was honed, re-ringed, and re-bearing(ed) about 3000 miles ago. See below for all the engine modifications and maintenance, all of which were done while the engine was being rebuilt 3000 miles ago. The heads were resurfaced and rebuilt using dual valve springs, upgraded retainers, and new guides. The engine has awesome oil pressure, with oil changes after every dyno session and about every 500 miles since then.
The engine is mated to an 09’ 4l80e automatic transmission with a Transgo HD-2 shift kit and large 30-row transmission coole r. These transmissions are very stout and are known to be good for 800whp+ with these small modifications. Trans temps are visible via the VDO gauge and have always stayed cool while driving.
The driveline is a custom piece made by Drivelines NW. It has both a billet slip yoke and a billet differential flange and has the large 1350 u-joints. It was balanced fully assembled by them and has no shakes or vibrations at speed. The M-Sport 740i’s also came with the rare, 3.15 215mm differential as well.
The exterior and interior are mostly original to keep with the sleek OEM design. Small things like H&R lowering springs and clear turn signal markers are all we changed (have originals as well) to get it to sit like it does now. Additional gauges have been added to the interior to keep a closer eye on some of the engine vitals like oil pressure, oil temp, trans temp, fuel pressure, and boost, with the rest being visible through a smartphone app.
The car will also come with some of the original parts as well as a few accessories. There is a full stainless, turbo-back exhaust with an integrated wastegate pipe that will come with the car if the bumper-exit exhaust is not your cup of tea. I’ve included a photo of the engine bay with that exhaust (labeled old exhaust) for you to see. It will also come with 2 keys/fobs, a clean title in my name, and all the receipts and documentation I have for it.
The car is currently garaged and will not be driven from now until it is sold. Please look at all the photos, watch all the videos available and do any research you need to before bidding! I am available to answer any questions you may have about the vehicle, just shoot me a message. The car is 20 years old now and has its blemishes. Once again, please ask me anything, I will be happy to elaborate and provide you pictures of whatever you need. Happy bidding!
If you have an E38 already and are looking to have this swap done, feel free to reach out for a quote.
