Vehicle description
2000 Jeep Cherokee 4X4 SPORT. Condition is "Used". Asking $8,200 OBO.
Hello and thank you for taking time to look at my Jeep. I bought this vehicle in 2017 from car dealership in NJ and had it sent to me here in Minnesota. I have put appx 24,000 miles on this vehicle since owning it and it has been a very good experience. It now has appx 145,107 miles. I have taken this cross country twice and have pulled a 2200 LB vintage trailer with no issues. I believe it has a tow capacity of 2500 LBS. This is probably the last time I"ll be driving the vehicle as I am now in Vegas and the Jeep needs AC. I haven"t bothered to recharge the AC or see what"s wrong with it. Just drove the Jeep back from Minnesota and i have two other vehicles so this one will be good for somebody else"s needs.
It should be noted that this Jeep is by no means perfect. The cosmetic condition of the exterior shows typical wear associated for it"s age. There are paint chips, scratches, dings and spots of rust starting to appear. The exterior plastic moldings are faded from years of being exposed to the sun. The paint does have a nice luster to it though and the rubber trim is mostly all in very nice shape. There are no water leaks coming into the cabin.
It does have one tiny oil leak where the oil filter screws on. That"s it. easy fix. The best running Jeep you could ask for and I have had several gaskets replaced since owning the vehicle. As you probably know already these older Jeeps are notorious for small oil leaks but that 4.0 liter just runs forever. I have spent about $1,200 a year on upkeep to replace parts as needed. Regular oil changes etc. . I and have most of the documentation. I just replaced the rotors and brakes on the front and rear of the Jeep as the stock ones were pretty well wore out. This Jeep actually handles very nice and purrs down the highway. No shimmies or shakes. I was told it needed new bushings on the sway bar however. Drives straight as an arrow. I"ve tried to keep this Jeep as stock as possible. The 4 X 4 works amazing and it"s almost impossible to get this stuck. The tires really grip well once in 4 X 4 mode.
The steering is really nimble too and turns on a dime. You can get into very tight spots with this Cherokee. I did add air bags in the rear to stiffen the suspension. The weight of the vintage trailer I pull was causing the rear leaf springs to sag so the airbags works excellent to keep the Jeep level while driving. It has the wiring for towing any trailer you have and a 3 ball rear hitch for any size.
Again, several parts have been replaced since I have owned this and I just put a new headliner in last year that was professionally installed. Cost about $1000.00 to do but well worth the money as these all have sagging headliners around the 20 year mark. It looks very nice too. It has a cord and heater block to keep the engine warm if you park in cold places during the winter. The heat in the Jeep works great with no issues but the A.C hasn"t worked since the day I bought it and I have tried to get it working as I just don"t need it where I live.
The reason I bought this Jeep in particular was the nice color and the tan leather interior seats which are hard to come by and were an upgrade that Jeep offered at that time I believe? So much nicer than the regular cloth seats and these are still in great shape with no rips or holes. Just a few heavier scratches on the rear seats. These are incredibly comfortable and probably the most comfortable seats I have ever sat in for extended period of time. The entire interior of this Jeep is in fantastic condition. Some light stains on the carpet but I have some nice Jeep floor mats to keep that from being an issue. All electrical components work. No issues. Windows slide smooth and easy.
There is an upgraded radio with CD player and USB insert. I added two nice fog lights to the front of the Jeep that really add some serious illumination for night driving.
The Jeep starts right away every time. She had never left me stranded. Any oil leakage is not enough to have to check the engine. Oil loss is very tiny and only needs to be checked with each oil change. Tranny is bullet proof. Lots of pull on this old Jeep. Steering is tight and feels good. Brakes stop on a dime. Again, they were all replaced with rotors last month.
The exhaust sounds nice. Part of it was replaced as the original was about ready to rot away. There are areas of rust on the bottom but it"s actually very good for being driven in MN the past few years. Spots of rust in the lower part of the door jams but this could easily be addressed as it"s still pretty early in that phase.
There are just a couple tiny chips in the front windshield but nothing that will spread with time. It"s the original windshield so it"s got a few imperfections. The roof shows some lite corrosion that will have to be sanded and primered eventually but it hasn"t gotten any worse since I bought it. The front fiberglass grill shows a few cracks as well. This Jeep has never been in an accident and I don"t off road so it"s been taken care of very well on my end.
Again, the interior of this Jeep is why I bought it. Very nice shape. I"d give it an 8 on a scale of 1 - 10. If you were to do some new paint on the outside with a few fixes here and there this would be one very nice Jeep Cherokee.
Again, if you need more pics please just ask as I could not upload them all due to limited pics on this site. Title is clean and ready to go.
