Vehicle description
Overall: Car is in good shape from front to trunk. Drives like a beast - you"re getting an amazing car. My lifestyle has changed and I can no longer keep this car.

Issues: airbag warning light, secondary air system. The SAS is due to plastic hoses at the throttle, which are snapped.
Currently just over 155k miles.
Paint and body are very, very good for a 20 year old car - some dings and dents, I have tried to document all of them in the photos.
Oil changed with Mobil 1 Synthetic every year, whether it needed it or not. Always used a fresh Mann filter.
I took extremely good care of this while I owned it, never took it above 5K RPM, babied the clutch and all that.
The engine runs extremely well. The 5-speed manual transmission is bulletproof. These alone make this car a great candidate for parting out.
This car currently does not pass emissions due to secondary air system issues, low flow to secondary bank on both sides. There is also an airbag warning light. Driver side seat belt/airbag assembly was replaced in 2016 as a preventative measure. This car is NOT on the Takata airbag recall list - I did my research and I"m pretty certain that this steering wheel diameter was too small for the defective airbags to fit, so they used the reliable ones.
AC blows COLD. Heat runs hot. No HVAC issues. I fixed the AC "wandering switch" issue and it"s good.
Car smells GOOD - I only say this because "Great" is subjective and Excellent implies brand-new. There are no mold smells or anything funky, no pet hairs or whatever. I never ate or drank anything except water in the car.
Air filter is 1 year old and very clean.
Coils are less than a year old, extremely low miles. Throttle is less than a year old - I replaced it due to an angle measurement error, which turned out to be a rusty throttle cable. Throttle cable is 6 months old and very smooth. I"ve driven about 200 miles since then.
Vacuum pump and main hoses are less than a year old, as part of the SAS troubleshoot.
Brakes are super solid. Brake fluid flushed January 2019.
Rear diff oil changed January 2019.
BMW M shifter short-throw knob. New trunk badge. Driver"s side seat is well-worn, passenger"s seat is excellent.
Dash lights replaced January 2019 as preventative measure. Intentionally pulled the traction control light for aesthetics.
Continental ControlContact Sport AS tires 1 year old. Spare tire replaced 2016, still good, never used.
Windscreen included.
Has the "spinning key" problem endemic to all Z3 models. Basically, I use the trunk lock to access the car. You can also install a remote unlocker. The physical tumbler is the issue; all locks lock tightly.
Car was love tapped a few years ago (Dec 2016), the bumper was repaired by insurance due to no-fault accident. The trunk is only off by a few millimeters, you have to look closely. See pictures. Latch closes normally.
Driver"s kick panel is removed (I swapped fuel pump relay) and I haven"t bothered to replace, but it is included with its mounting hardware.
Air bag passenger seat presence mat was broken on purchase, did the 1K resistor hack and no problems since then. I"m not sure what the airbag warning means since I don"t know anything about ABS. .
Comes with a Dell laptop loaded up with INPA software at no extra cost, so you don"t have to take it to the dealer. I will also include any parts that I have laying around for this, such as the antenna which I didn"t like and covered its socket with sugru.
Since I bought the car @ 130k miles in December 2013, the following work has been done:
VANOS seals repaired
Power steering hoses and pump replaced
Front and rear struts replaced in 2016, very smooth ride
EVAP valve replaced, gas cap gasket replaced
Oil filter gasket replaced
New spark plugs 2017, good to go
Typical Z3 problems fixed:
Sagging glove box no more!
Sliding seats are repaired!
Convertible top was replaced March 2018, all rubber seals except the front frame seal are less than 4 years old.
Stereo: I fixed the subwoofer when I bought the car and it slaps. The head unit has a removable face and one of the pins died, so you will need a new stereo. It"s outdated anyway - no wireless/Bluetooth. I took the antenna and covered the spot with Sugru for aesthetic reasons but it will be included if you buy the car, very easy to screw in. The behind-the-passenger tweeter cover was broken when I got the car, and is included, but was never fixed - not really a problem.
Cool white LED headlamps. Fog lights are good to go, high beams are good. Headlamp plastic needs a 5-year refresh as you can see from the photos. The bumper repair shop did a "courtesy" wet sand on the headlamp plastic without asking. . yeah.
Glass is clean. One very small chip on drivers" side, see pictures.
Overall this car is a little TLC away from being in Excellent condition.
