1995 Lotus Esprit S4 - Fully Serviced - EVERYTHING WORKS - 38,000 Miles - Final Edition Wheels & More
I purchased this Esprit last April on eBay, after having seen it the year prior on display by the former owner at a European Car Show in South Carolina. The car showed very well, but had common issues that needed sorting. I set to work bringing the car up to the state of a daily driver to relive my past (I have been a longtime Esprit fan) sorting out common Esprit issues that plague just about every SE, S4, or even V8 car you might look at.

When I bought it, I requested an inspection to be performed by Atlanta area Lotus expert Pannell Motorcars. My request to the shop owner was simple: fix everything, no leaks, no issues. He went to work. After that, local audio customs shop CarTunes was engaged to install an upgraded audio system, and backup camera. I then drove the car home 400 miles without a hitch, but uncovering a number of additional problems that needed sorting. In came GMP Motorsports in Charlotte, NC to sort out the problems found which included evaporative system leaks, clutch system leaks, and a need for a set of new injectors and finally a visit to Midnite Auto in Mooresville, NC to fabricate a brand new exhaust system with high flow catalyst and Borla muffler to replace the leaking straight pipe system that was in place. 2,000 miles later: t his car starts, runs, drives, doesn"t overheat, cools the cabin, and doesn"t leak at all. It"s ready for you to drive!
Everything works. Minimal if any corrosion on the underside of the car - this is a lifelong Southeast car and the undercarriage shows it. The gauges all work. The pop-up headlights pop-up perfectly. The a/c cools and the blower motor spins. The interior is in very nice shape with minimal drivers side bolster wear - a rarity - and there is minimal shrink in leather anywhere even on the dash or binnacle. The transmission also shifts properly and as smooth as any UN1 will.

What"s else is worth talking about?
Paint condition on this car is fair. It looks great and shows great particularly after a $1,000 professional detail late last year, however, some spider cracking in the 25 year old paint is occurring on the drivers side rear fender and on the back deck in the middle though not severe in that area. I suspect the front bumper and probably the bonnet have been repainted at some point in the car"s life.
It"s also important to note that this car does not have it"s factory airbag steering wheel installed, instead a nice Momo aftermarket part, and I don"t have one to supply. I have reinstalled a high-flow catalyst which passes emissions in my local area. Further, the Michelin"s are a bit oversize - when driven very aggressively with a large driver (I am over 200lbs) & a full tanks of fuel or a heavy load in the cargo area out back the drives side rear tire can rub on occasion.
How hard will it be to get this car from you to me?
If you"re not up to road tripping in a classic exotic car, thats OK. I am happy to help arrange shipping for you; I"ve had good luck with Plycar and can arrange everything for you with them. I am also happy to coordinate shipping with any reputable carrier.
