“A time capsule from the early 1990's ... This Mercedes 400E has been pampered since day 1. Everything works as it should: power windows, power mirrors, power sunroof, retracting headrests etc..This solid machine moves effortlessly, with endless power and torque from the Mercedes V8 under the hood. While not quite as powerful as the 500E, the 400E can still embarrass plenty of modern traffic and is a real wolf in sheep's clothing (for a fraction of the price). There are no rattles or noises, brakes, suspension and drivetrain all work efficiently and properly. The paint is original and in excellent condition. There are some very minor stone/rock chips, though they are not noticeable.”

Vehicle description

A time capsule from the early 1990"s . . This Mercedes 400E has been pampered since day 1.
Everything works as it should: power windows, power mirrors, power sunroof, retracting headrests etc.
There is a chip in the windshield about the size of a dime.
This solid machine moves effortlessly, with endless power and torque from the Mercedes V8 under the hood. While not quite as powerful as the 500E, the 400E can still embarrass plenty of modern traffic and is a real wolf in sheep"s clothing (for a fraction of the price). There are no rattles or noises, brakes suspension and drivetrain all work efficiently and properly.
The paint is original and in excellent condition. There are some stone/rock chips, though they are not noticeable.
This 400E has been garaged all its life and for 25 year old car, the exterior is amazing.
Similarly, the interior has been exceptionally well maintained. The dash, the wood and the carpets all have a "new car" look. The leather on the seats is all in great condition, though the driver seat bolster is showing a little wear. The worn area is visible in the interior photos.
There is a slight hard shift from 1st to 2nd gear, which I suspect could be cured with a transmission service. It doesn"t affect the driving or enjoyment of the car in any way, but I prefer to disclose so potential buyers have all information prior to bidding.
Overall, this is one of the very few E-Class Mercedes from the 1990s which has not only survived, but is in better condition that most cars which are 22 or 23 years younger. It"s unlikely there are many other 400E"s out there in the same amazing condition.
Unfortunately I have to sell as I need to make space for another recent purchase, but the upside is someone else will get to enjoy this unique piece of German engineering.
Please only bid if you are serious about buying and feel free to reach out with any questions - I"ll do my best to answer. Best of luck bidding and I look forward to passing this special car to the next owner.
