Vehicle description

For sale is this 1991 VW Syncro. This was the last year for the vanagon and the last year for the Syncro in North america. I included plenty of pictures for full disclosure.

Comes with a Clean title in my name.Originally from California, it has no rust and is very dry inside and out. The engine is a 2.1 Liter stock motor which has been well maintained for its 157,000 miles and drives smoothly. As a syncro the vehicle come with a 5 speed manual transmission which shifts are satisfying and all gears work without issue. The Rear differential lock works as it should, making this vanagon capable of extreme offroad situations.
The interior boasts 7 seats which would be great for a family or road trip, and the rear seat fold down to accommodate a large sleeping platform. Automatic windows, and automatic locks came standard for this late model vanagon. Also as standard is the well equipped A/C unit which blows strong, but will need recharging with freon for proper cooling. Heater works as well.
The vehicle comes with an aftermarket front bumper from vancafe which is a pricey ($1000) upgrade. There is also a sony bluetooth head unit connected to a decent quality sound system.
Now for the extra bits that come with the van with the buy now.
A newly rebuilt 2.5 L subaru engine from a 2001 subaru outback is available with the van. The engine is very clean and comes with a busaru engine harness, kennedy adapter plate and flywheel, kennedy engine crossmember, Kennedy Full exhaust. . and everything else needed to easily mount and install the subaru engine into the syncro. All brandnew and still in there boxes. Also included is the subaru alternator, A/C compressor and other misc items which simply need to be installed onto the motor.
Also included will be an entire wesfalia interior and poptop. Fridge, Two-burner stove, sink, storage cabinets, Z-bed, and all other westfalia accessories were taken from a non-syncro westfalia and was intended on being put into this van to make a Syncro westfalia. Syncros alone are hard to come by but syncro westfalia"s go for high dollar prices and are hard to come by, so converting this one would be a cheap and easy way to get your hands on one. There are numerous forums and listings on how to convert it and should only take a couple weekends. Doing this conversion easily doubles the price of the vanagon.
The subaru conversion items and Wesfalia bits alone are well over a $10,000 investment. By buying this syncro you have the choice of leaving it stock and driving it as is, or converting it into a fully stocked 1991 Syncro Subaru Wesfalia in little to no time.
There are a few minor things that should be addressed down the road on the syncro.
- Passenger window switch needs looked into - one tire has a minor flat spot. - fuel guage will need replaced - a fuel vent hose came off and will need replaced before full fuel fill. - engine requires a new aux air regulator(cheap and easy) replaced for smoother cold starts and cruises. - Cosmetically the vehicle has dents, and over spray here and there and a potion on the passenger side that is in primer due to fixing a dent.
Once these things are addressed the vehicle would be a wonderful camper, offroader, or family hauler and with the ability to go with the subaru and the westfalia interior your options are endless.
The only reason i"m selling this is because i"m moving, and the process is not a cheap or easy endeavor. Please be serious if you"re considering this van as i want it to go to a good home and continue being driven.
There"s a buy now or a bidding process if you are willing to take the chance that someone else may win it (reserve is set lower than buy it now). Please feel free to ask any questions you might have.
