The frame was swapped for a galvanized chassis, and all suspension components were either replaced or blasted and powder-coated. The body panels were stripped and coated on all sides – no old paint to be found. Doors and rear quarters were replaced as well as the hood and bulkhead. LED lights were added all around as well as side steps and the 18” sawtooth wheels on 33” KO2 tires. The original 200tdi engine has had a top-end overhaul, variable geometry turbo added, new injectors, oversized intercooler and rebuilt head. The LT77 gearbox and LT230 transfer case were swapped for rebuilt units. The interior has been redone in black and grey to match the exterior with new black carpet and black headliner. I am due delivery on the headliner, steering wheel and rear view mirror next week. We renewed the original interior trim as the grey is now obsolete and we believe the combination gives it a lot of character. The seats have been redone in a durable cloth, as leather here in Texas is extremely hot to get into after an hour in the sun. All in all, this was a complete frame-swap restoration, with over 2000 man hours spent, plus the bells and whistles where we thought they were needed, but keeping in line with the iconic traditional design. To that end, we decided to keep it right hand drive. We wanted this build to maintain its original look.
Important Note Regarding Tire Size Fitment Are you asking yourself: "Will this rim fit my tire?" That"s a great question. An easy way to answer this is by looking at your tire and finding the letter "R" . For example: ✓ R14 = 14" Tire (fits a 14" rim) ✓ R15 = 15" Tire (fits a 15" rim) ✓ R16 = 16" Tire (fits a 16" rim) ✓ R17 = 17" Tire (fits a 17" rim) ✓ R18 = 18" Tire (fits a 18" rim) ✓ R19 = 19" Tire (fits a 19" rim) ✓ R20 = 20" Tire (fits a 20" rim)
