Vehicle description

I bought the van off a little over a year ago, and it was in very poor condition. It was listed as running. When it was delivered it did run briefly. And then the hoses flew off and the old battery died. But it was my dream to own & travel in a VW van. Frankly I overpaid for what I got. It is a good launching point for someone who knows , loves, and works on these old VWs. The body is straight. Underneath has minor rust but not giant eaten away spots or missing metal, or a thick crust of rust. The sliding door works well.
For the price I am asking you are paying me back my initial cost. Not the $1000 to get it to Austin, TX. You are also receiving a rebuilt 2200cc automatic engine that costs me $4295.00. A stainless steel exhaust system ($729.95). Various hoses, a thermostat, wiper assembly and new blades ($434.54), new o-rings and other parts($219.89) , new wheels and tires ($1430.32) and a new battery ($165.07) I"ve poured over $8,000 into the parts & labor to repair it, but I don"t have the time or money to continue the work.
This 1987 Westfalia is NOT running and is a project. Other than the wheels, tires, and engine, nothing else has been replaced on the van. There are some signs of wear and tear, and has some light rust underneath. The upholstery has no rips, tears, or burns but shows signs of age. It is clean overall. Driver window does not work. The pop top has a minor rip,(abt 5") that the last owner covered with tape. Rest of top is in good shape and operates fine. The skylight needs to be replaced. Bumper needs rubber ends replaced. It has it"s original key, and comes with a blank backup key. The original color was red, but the last owner repainted it, and the red shows around openings (doors) and some other areas. I took this on as my first car, with a plan to drive around the U.S. But at 17 I"ve lost interest. I poured my life savings into it & I want to try to get as much of my money back as possible. I"ve reserved the listing at what I paid. I have already purchased a lot of the items the van will need. It requires a person who has the time and energy to finish this up. Thanks for your attention.
