Vehicle description
1987 Buick Grand National. Clean and clear title, 3rd owner, well cared for, garage kept, all original, unrestored, unmolested, numbers matching, highly optioned 1987 Buick Grand National. Power drivers seat, power windows, power locks, cruise control, concert sound, power antenna, power trunk, G80 posi-traction rearend.
This car was first purchased from a Missouri Buick dealership and registered in Bourbon, Missouri on 9/30/1988 with 42 miles on it. It was involved in a minor accident almost exactly a year later on 9/13/1989. The guy I bought it from was friends with the original owner and explained that the accident only involved the front passenger side fender, the original owner was turning left at a two lane left-hand turn intersection, when another turning car sideswiped him during the turn. The car was professionally repaired at the dealership he purchased it at. Visually and mechanically, there"s no evidence that an accident ever occurred, I just want to disclose everything that I know about it. After that, the original owner drove the car as a daily driver accumulating 87,022 miles on the odometer until 8/24/1995 when he sold it to his friend. His friend, the second owner, registered it on 8/24/1995 in O"Fallon, Missouri and only put 3,940 miles on it in the 26 years that he owned it. It basically sat in his garage with a battery tender hooked up to it and he went out and started it once or twice a month and once in a while would take it for a spin around town. That is where I found and purchased the car. Some people would call it a barn find! The second owner in the 26 years that he owned it, only changed out the fuel pump and gas tank because the fuel pump went out on it and when he was replacing it, he noticed that the gas tank was dirty inside.
I purchased this car on 12/10/2021 with 90,962 miles on it, a few weeks after my wife had wrecked my frame off restored, highly modified 1987 Grand National. I was planning on modifying and updating this car like I did my previous one when I purchased it, but after getting it shipped to my home in Virginia and checking everything out, I decided not to because in my opinion, it was too original to mess with. The only thing that it needed when I purchased it was bumper fillers, a new headliner, a power antenna rebuild (the motor spins but the antenna doesn"t move up and down) and a new heater core. I replaced the heater core and the bumper fillers (with fiberglass SpoolFool bumper fillers) so far. I ordered a headliner and power antenna rebuild kit, but the headliner is on backorder and I haven"t gotten around to rebuilding the power antenna. The power antenna rebuild kit will come with the car if sold.
This is an unrestored 35 year old car. It still has it"s original paint, original flawless interior including original seat covers, original exhaust, original everything, and it starts right up, runs and drives great! The engine has never been apart, there have been zero modifications done to this car. If you want a perfect low mileage museum piece, this is not the one. If you want a gently used but mechanically untouched, unmodified, true, original Grand National that"s what this is. The original paint is checking on the top of the roof and the trunk lid. There are numerous rock chips and scratches on the sides as to be expected. I was told that the paint checking could be fixed by a paint correction and detailing but the chips and scratched here and there would have to be touched up. It has absolutely zero rust on the body whatsoever. It does have light surface rust on the frame rails, suspension components, and the exhaust system as to be expected on an unrestored 35 year old 90,000+ mile car.
I am not a dealer or a flipper, I am a Grand National enthusiast! I am representing this car as honestly as I can and I will answer any questions about the car that I receive. I posted pictures of all of the flaws that I have found and I have hundreds of more pictures available upon request.
