Vehicle description
I am selling, with NO RESERVE, my personal 1986.5 Porsche 928S. This has been my 4th Porsche and I am getting too old for this wonderful life experience. I am about to consign this car to a major international auction site. I am going to take one shot at selling on ebay to mutually save on ridiculous selling fees. The car has been well taken care of; not perfect, but a turnkey 928S with an incredible rare red interior. Everything works! ! ! If you want a showstopper, this will certainly satisfy that requisite.
I believe the purchaser of this car would want to drive, not rebuild or restore the car. I have well over $30K in the car.
For anyone who does not know the "1986.5" designation, any car beyond "1000" in the VIN number (mine is 1054) have some of the features that were being prepared for the 1987 cars including improvements to the 32V engine; suspension changes; dual exhaust; and larger 4-cylinder calipers with antilock brakes among other features. The car has a top speed of 165 mph.
I have had all work professionally done to improve and/or maintain the car. The car has original paint with a recent professionally applied ceramic finish. It has a perfectly operational sunroof. The car has rear AC! I have low mile Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ 223/50ZR16 on beautiful polished-chrome slotted wheels with a recent 4-wheel alignment (they have a clearcoat to eliminate oxidation too!). I had each of the wheels (not tires! ) balanced and honed to eliminate any high-speed vibration.
I have installed a Pioneer AVH-3500NEX 7" DUAL DIN multimedia DVD sound system with Apple Play, Bluetooth, and is Sirius ready and is hands free. It has had a recent tune up, a tensioner rebuild and a new timing chain. I had the front-end sway bars replaced and the entire front end tightened up. The car has a limited slip differential. I had custom sheepskins made for the front seats to protect them and new factory floor mats matching the red interior. Wait to you feel the sensation within its power curve while sitting in those sheepskins! I am 6"4" and totally comfortable.
I state clearly in the front there is a verified valve cover leak that has been recently identified by the Porsche dealer. Although this is not a major issue whatsoever, I will NOT address prior to sale. Your turn to finish the optional repairs! I would put the new valve cover gaskets on the next time it is in the shop for a tune up or other need. There are no cracks on the dash, however the leather is pulling back from vents. Although I had an incredible ceramic finish applied to the ORIGINAL paint, I chose not to repair minor scratches with feathering, overspray, or repaint. The car appears to have never been in an accident and I did not want a repaint to suggest it had any accident history that a repaint could indicate. I had the minor scratches professionally filled with touch-up prior to the application of the ceramic finish. You must really look to see these marks. The car"s shine is incredible for a 35-year-old classic! someday, when a repaint is required, you can make the exterior perfect!
