Vehicle description

About this vehicle This 1986 Volkswagen Vanagon is an original. The owner has had it for 2 years. The vehicle runs great and is mainly used for car shows. Seller"s Notes See description Vehicle Details 1986 VW WESTFALIA VOLKSWAGEN VANAGON 2.1 4 SPEED MANUAL I purchased this in September of 2020 and have made it a solid reliable runner with tons of replaced parts, including a replacement 2.1 engine with lower miles (Just over 100k). It's a 4 speed manual. She runs and drives great. We never got to go camping in it, but have enjoyed it for hundreds of miles around the area. It's all original paint and has minor dings from life, but overall is very solid. No bad rust and structurally very sound (the underside is super clean!) I've worked through all the known gremlins and she is very roadworthy. It starts right up! I put a TON of time, money, and research into swapping the engine, buying quality parts, and not taking shortcuts on seals/gaskets, to prevent future issues. We unfortunately need to sell it, so it will be off to a new home. NEW PARTS Lok Clutch kit (Clutch, clutch plate, Felt Pilot Bearing seal, throwout bearing) ECU / ECM / Computer (Brand new, as the old one went bad) Temp Sensor 2 Temperature sender Thermostat o-ring Termostat Water pump Belts (3 of them) Spark Plugs Wires Oil filter Distributor Cap Distributor rotor Fuel Lines in engine bay (Bypassing the problematic T-fitting) Fuel line covers All cooling hoses in the engine bay area (There are a TON!) Coolant junction block Coolant overflow tank Coolant overflow tank sensor Coolant recovery reservoir Coolant recovery reservoir cap Engine bay seal Air filter Rear hatch struts Sun Visor Clips Exhaust gasket 5 brand new ties with under 500 miles, including the spare Wiper blades front and back Did a full engine swap with a low mileage 86 W. Phalia engine. I purchased the engine from someone who did a Subaru swap. I have probably put on about 300 miles or so. We wanted to take it camping but need to sell it before we get to do so. Other random notes: Interior and exterior were professionally cleaned by a local detailer Engine was replace by a low mileage 2.1 from a Westfalia from someone who installed a Subaru engine instead. TONS of new parts, and I did my research on each one to ensure that I was getting quality parts from reputable vendors Very original and honest van No oil or coolant leaks The window crank on the driver side was replaced by a custom one, but I purchased a brand new correct one but have not installed it. Rearview mirror came in the glove box and I have not put it back up. It may need repaired as the ball joint looks busted. Factory electric side mirrors (Which are better because they don't go in while traveling fast) Factory AC, and the lines have some charging them but the AC doesn’t seem to kick on. I never took it in for proper service but it may just need evacuated and recharged. It's all there, I just never tested it. All warning lights go on in the car first starts but turn off quickly, as they should. Nice custom Westfalia-specific floor mats front and back Aftermarket radio with aux input Coolant was flushed with the engine swap Mass airflow sensor was cleaned using mass airflow sensor cleaner Rear pull out table was replaced at some point with a homemade one All curtains look to be there. It also came with the original snap cover curtain for the windshield Grateful Dead sticker came with the car Seam rust isn't too bad compared to many others in original paint. bottom bed's rear mattress pad’s zipper needs repaired, still usable Haven’t tested sink, I never hooked up water but the rebuild process is easy and cheap (If it doesn't work) Custom front center console Two 6v batteries are installed under the center console upfront, relocated from under the driver seat. Pop top canvas has no major rips or tears, but the zippers are broken on the sides. They may be able to be repaired, but I just use safety pins to hold up the covers over the mesh. At one time I had aftermarket cruise control hooked up, but it wasn’t hooked up when I purchased it. Bottom sleeping pad zipper is busted on one side, but it doesn’t affect usability and I never tried fixing it. It has all Upper and lower mattress pads It has the factory bug net for the rear Stove works off of small propane tanks Batteries for cabin are located under center custom Console (by previous owners) Unsure if fridge works, I've never tested it I have a large stack of maintenance records / paperwork and manuals for the van. I believe it is 99% complete. Very small things here and there are imperfect, but overall very nice Odometer is over 200k, but engine has less.
