1986 Mercury Cougar 5.0L 42k original mi.
This is probably the nicest original 5.0L 1986 Cougar you will ever find. It was specially ordered with every option you could get in 1986. It was bought new by a retiring school teacher and promptly migrated to Arizona where it spent most of its adult life. I purchased this car back in 2007 for my Dads personal collection from the estate of the original owner with 21k miles on it. It has remained in our family until now. The car has been babied all of it life. It has been garage in climate controlled comfort both in Arizona and here at home. It has never seen snow or salt and only a few rains. The undercarriage tells you alot! The gas and brake lines are still shiny with no corrosion whatsoever underneath. The Aluminum wheels are pristine without a mark. The interior is spotless and shows no wear. There has always been 2 or 3 levels of floor mats on the carpets and the seats were covered by matching grey towels when i purchased it. The car is on outstanding condition and is highly detailed. According to Ford it is quite rare with the options that the car has. The paint is all original with all panels retaining their original pinstripes, although a couple spots they are a little faded from polishing. The car was manufactured in the USA and can be imported back to the US with a simple form to fill out at the border. The car is fully loaded and all options work as they should. In the last few years the car has had all new brakes, tires & alignment, rad, heater core, all belts and hoses, battery and much more. All fluids were changed last year, the Air conditioning was converted to R-134A and a new compressor installed. Over the last ten years we have put on about 20k miles which have been mostly weekends for car shows, icecream and the occasional trip/getaway. The car runs and performs flawlessly and can be driven anywhere. Looks, nods, and thumbs up are what you will be faced with.
