Vehicle description
About this vehicle 1986 Land Rover Defender 110 – 2.5D ex Military LHD. *
Originally commissioned as an FFR (fitted for radio) vehicle and later converted into a Support Vehicle, believed to be used by the RAF on air bases in Germany. During its time in service, a reconditioned engine, gearbox and transfer box were fitted. *
After decommissioning, the new owner removed the 24v wiring system and installed a 12v loom and equipment from a civilian Defender 110. *
The basic military front seats were removed and a new purpose built seat box was fitted to accommodate a pair of comfortable car seats. The battery was relocated to the engine compartment, and two strong steel side lockers were fitted in place of the normal Military storage units. The later fitted Land Rover 110 side windows certainly makes it safer to drive. *
With such low mileage (approx. 102,000 miles), the truck has hardly seen salted roads, the chassis still having the original rust free rear crossmember. *
Before coming to the US, the Defender was serviced by our garage in France. The fuel injection pump and injectors were changed, a new cam belt kit fitted, the brake system was completely overhauled as were the prop-shafts. The five tires were replaced by new Good Year Wranglers. Some of the military fittings have been left - the ariel support, the fender shovel holder, heavy duty front bumper with towing pin, heavy duty rear bumperettes, the discreet interior map reading light and the "follow me" convoy rear differential light (although that"s not wired up). The spare wheel hood mounting"s there (but they"re a pain in the butt to lift cos they"re so heavy), so the spare is mounted inside the truck against the rear bulkhead. *
This is a basic stripped out noisy Military 110 which will sing along at 60 – 70mph all day long. If you’re looking for a reliable solid low mileage left hand drive truck then give Noel a call (802 9222876) and come and see this one - you won"t be disappointed. If you like it, twist Noel"s arm for a deal! If you fly into Burlington VT, Noel will meet you there, or you can view the truck at Jeffersonville if you’re just a drive away. Sorry to say, but our dog doesn"t come with it!

Please note:
We managed to import this truck from France (via Southampton Docks UK) just before the France/UK covid lockdown and quarantine. All necessary fees etc were paid before it was released by US Customs, and allowed to leave Newark Docks for Vermont. Ordinarily, Noel would have presented the Customs, EPA and DOT documents in person to register the truck, but the MV office is only accepting mail in applications at this time, so there is a delay. Please note that when we receive the Title, before we sell it, the truck will have a Vermont roadworthy test certificate also. Thanks for looking.
