Vehicle description
1986 Chevy K5 Blazer - Military Truck. Less than 38,500 miles. Starts and runs. Rear locker and good tread on tires.
General Info: 1986 U.S. military with Commercial Utility Cargo Vehicle, or “CUCV” in military-speak. GM assembled CUCVs existing heavy duty light commercial truck parts. The GM built, M1009 Chevrolet Blazer, uprated to 3/4 Ton capacity. All CUCVs featured GM’s 6.2L J-series Detroit Diesel with no emissions equipment rated at 155 horsepower and 240 foot-pounds of torque that were connected to a GM TurboHydramatic 400 automatic transmission. 10-bolt axles both front and rear featuring 3.08:1 gears. Rear axle came equipped with an Eaton Automatic Differential Lock. Being a military vehicle, the CUCVs used a hybrid 12/24 volt electrical system: 24-volts under the hood, 24 volt starter, complete with dual 100 amp alternators, the mandatory NATO slave receptacle for jump starting any NATO vehicle, and hookups for military radios. The rest of the truck was 12-volt.
This Truck: This will make a great hunting and/or ranch truck or fun restoration project. The truck body and interior are in good shape for its age. Brand new aluminum radiator recently installed. IR lights (for driving with your NVGs) and equipped blackout system to turn off brake lights. Has pintle hook (standard equipment on military trucks) and two inch receiver (I installed to put on a bed extender when hauling my kayak). CB radio in dash, dual gun rack behind driver"s seat, spare tire. Has full tank of fresh diesel; truck usually gets around 20+ miles to the gallon. The truck has clean title and its registration is current. I have original bill of sale from U.S. Military; states you must be a United States citizen in purchase agreement in order to own this truck. I am the only owner of this truck after the military. Only selling because we are moving and don"t have room at the new place for it.
