Vehicle description
Relisted due to winning bidder claiming he was "hacked" and didn"t ever bid on the car. .
Rare but affordable - odd combination; here"s the story on this one:
I bought the car 7 years ago with clear title, not running. I had it street legal for several years - drove to TVR club meets and around town. It gets way more comments at stop lights and parking lots than my Porsche, E-Type roadster, 450SL or original Insight - hardly anyone knows what this is. Google the details - it"s a tubular chassis, independent rear suspension with Jaguar XJS inboard disk brakes, a 165HP V6 Ford engine made in Cologne with odd 3 into 2 exhaust porting on each side of the engine, 4 speed manual transmission with removable T-top that stores in the trunk, targa frame folds down into convertible.
It is very difficult to hot rod this engine due to the odd exhaust porting arrangement. It is light weight (claimed curb weight around 2350 lbs). It has an OBD I electronic ignition which is not monitored for emissions in many states (check yours before bidding). My intent was to drop a 300+ HP modern aluminum V6 with 6 speed transmission into the chassis and make a poor man"s cobra - my job is just too demanding and I don"t see having the time to do this in the near future. This car is a PROJECT CAR AND IS NOT ROAD WORTHY IN ITS PRESENT STATE - BRING A TRAILER OR I WILL HELP LOAD ON A TRANSPORT TRUCK.
The Bosch injection system works but will not allow full power - probably an electronic engine temp sensor. Brakes work but rear"s should probably be refreshed. Tach works when it wants to (Lucas electronics - like MG"s and Triumphs always need work, contacts cleaned etc. . .). Head liner to targa top needs replaced - have new liner (see pictures). This car has a fiberglass body - PAINT IS FAR FROM PERFECT - THERE ARE SUPERFICIAL STRESS CRACKS. Interior is far from perfect - CARPET NEEDS REPLACED, TRIM IS NOT PERFECT. To the best of my knowledge, mileage is actual - rubbers on pedals seem to confirm this. Not exactly sure what it would take to pass inspection.
- IF YOU DON"T HAVE A BIT OF GREASE UNDER YOUR FINGERNAILS PLEASE DON"T BID ON THIS CAR - IT IS A MODERN BRITISH SPORTS CAR BUT IT IS BUILT IN THE TRADITIONAL 1960"S SENSE AND WILL ALWAYS NEED LOOKING AFTER. . There is an active TVR club that is helpful. Most parts are available and affordable and sourced from other popular vehicles (brakes from Jaguar, electronics from Triumph, etc. . ) I"m selling it for what I bought it for 7 years ago - great deal for the "right" person. .
Car is located a few miles off Interstate I-10 just west of Lake Charles, Louisiana. Please email with questions or set up an appointment to see in person. I"ve bought and sold many high value items on EBAY and want both of us to be 100% satisfied! PLEASE DON"T BID IF YOUR SIGNIFICANT OTHER WON"T LET YOU BUY IT! ! ! ! ! Thanks in advance and best of luck! Greg
