UPDATE: PLEASE READ THIS AD ALL THE WAY TO THE END! Car is not running as of 5/12/2020
This car belongs to my father. It was last registered & driven in 2003.It was stored under a covered patio for all these years. He parked it when the “change timing belt”light came on. He as always gonna…but never quite got around to replacing the belt. We trailered it to my house Oct of 2019. He could not find the key, all 4 tires were dry rotted & flat. I tried to sell “as is” at the time and the ebay auction finished at $5K only to have the buyer back out of the deal when he ran into trouble having it shipped in that condition. Since then, we found the key, installed a set of tires. I drained & flushed the fuel tank. Replaced the fuel pump. Installed a battery, topped off all the fluids & now she starts, runs & drives. The check engine light is still on, but to my surprise, it sounds purdy good. With the battery installed and car running I now know of a few more items that work. · Engine & transmission · Power steering · Brakes · Emerg brake · Alarm system…. (not that I know how to work it. Something to do with the way you lock or unlock the car? I managed to set it off a couple of times. · Both elec seats · Elec mirrors · Stereo · Dash fan & blower (hoo boy… a lot of dust came out of that baby when I turned it on) · Replaced the gas hood shocks, so the hood will stay open. This car is all original & complete, right down to the OEM alloy wheels, tool kit in the removable panel at the hatch back. Has the original “hide a spare & jack” Front & rear seat upholstery look good. I cleaned them up with some Maguire’s leather conditioner There are things that don’t work. What I know so far, The fuel gauge did not go up when I added fresh fuel. Oil pressure& tach do work. One of the pop up head lights came up once, but does not want to work now. The clear coat has started peeling on the driver side front, below the hood. Below the rear hatch & sun roof cover. The plastic air dam under the front bumper is cracked…. Dam parking stops! Some of the alloy wheels have lost their finish There is a small (gotta look for it to find it) impression (dent?) on the top of the pass front fender. The dash pad has shrunk up. The plastic dash bezel around the cluster has a crack. The plastic bracket that mounts the hood pull cable lever inside the car broke Few stains in the carpets. All & all in purdy good shape for a car that old. It seems the 1985 was a special year with that awesome intake system? This car would be a great candidate for full restoration as it is all original with 117K miles. I have videos of the engine starting the first time after sitting forever. I also have later videos of the car running. The exhaust tone. And the car driving out of my driveway and back. This was a California car that has spent the last umpteen years in Arizona. My dad titled it with his summer Alaska address as they are not a greedy when it comes to auto registrations up there. He/we have fresh clean title in hand. The care is located at my home here in Yuma, Arizona. I’m not really a Porsche or even a car guy… I’m sure have left out information that would be important to those of you that are…. So, ask away. I will do my best to answer any questions, provide more photos or videos… Just let me know how I can help. UPDATE: The above listing was put on ebay last week. On Monday the 11th I fired the car up to make a couple more videos of it running to upload to You-Tube. Here is the link. ( https:/ youtu.be/jPS3fG323qI ) Car ran great multiple starts and shut downs. Tuesday 5/12/20 after work I went to move the car out of my driveway & it would not start. cranks fast, no start. Not sure what happened but I don"t want to work on this car. .so. I have dropped the price and she is for sale As Is. delivery is available @ $2:00 per mile one way from Yuma, Arizona Again, I am happy to answer any & all questions, just shoot me a message.
