Vehicle description
Unfortunately the time has come to sell my Land Cruiser. It"s a very cool conversion consisting of a Ford 5.8L and factory Toyota 4 speed. I"ve owned it for about 11 years and it currently does not run. The throttle cable broke years ago and I tried getting a new one but it didn"t really work. Over time, life moved on and I just lost interest in it and never pursued it further. Up until that time I had a blast with it. I"ve driven it in snow storms, parades, a little off-roading, towed jet skis to the lake, and a lot of daily driving. I no longer have the time or means to get it back on the road and I"m hoping to find someone who does and can enjoy it as much as I have. Continue reading and I will tell you what I know about it to the best of my ability. I am by no means an expert on these and as many of you are, if you see something that appears incorrect please let me know and I will update the listing. So here we go:
The Good Stuff:
It"s a quality conversion to a Ford 351/5.8 liter, it"s not hacked together.
I"ve used it as a daily driver and it performed well on the highway and in the city. It has a huge aluminum radiator and electric fan set up. It never ran hot in any weather, even towing a pair of jet skis.
It has a body lift for sure, pro comp shocks, and I"m unsure about suspension lift. It has 33x12.50x15 Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with excellent tread. The interior seems to be all original except for the front seats. They are leather but will need to be recovered or replaced. Everything else looks like 1982.
Custom front and rear bumpers with hitch and trailer wiring.
The 4 wheels drive worked perfectly and has manual locking front hubs. Engine is mostly stock, aluminum intake, Holley carb, I"m guessing a 600 vacuum secondary, and Holley electric fuel pump. Exhaust has a Flowmaster muffler. Not sure about emissions equipment, but it passed the county sniffer test for several years. Dash, door panels, center console, rear seat all appear in good condition. It has an aftermarket radio setup with some MTX Subs and amp. It has a CB radio with functioning PA system! I have 2 new batteries never installed that I will include. All electronics wired to a panel on the dash. Rhino lined inside from rear seat back to tailgate.
The part where you come in:
It hasn"t been started in many years. It needs a new throttle cable for sure. You would probably need to go through the entire fuel system and clean it and replace rubber lines. Also wouldn"t hurt to go through the brakes too, they work now, but I"d want to check em out before I hit the highway.
It has some rust in the usual places; in the rear wheel wells into the cab, some on the bottom inside of the tailgate, and some on the frame. Please see rust pictures, again, I"m limited to 24 pics. If you think you see rust, assume you do, that way you aren"t surprised if it was more than you expected. The exterior has minimal rust. The paint was new when I got it and has held up well. It has some environmental damage to the hood and roof from removed tree sap. Also a dent in the roof where a limb fell that would need to be PDR"d if you so choose.
The bottom 1/4 of the truck has been rhino lined and is in need of a touch up, a lot came off during the cleaning. The body looks fine under there, but it has pulled the paint off in some places. It has a serpentine belt drive with an ac compressor, but the compressor is not hooked up to the factory ac system. Underhood looks like a plate of spaghetti. Every wire goes where it should and works properly, but it really needs to be tidied up. Headliner needs some attention, it"s not horrible, but it"s not new either.
Wow, that seems like a lot but I"m sure I"m forgetting stuff. I would rather over describe the issues so that nobody is disappointed. If I think of anything else I will add it later. It has a clean Tennessee title in my name and if the buyer lives in Tennessee I will throw in the period correct Tennessee Civil Defense plate to use as an Antique tag. I"m limited to the number of pictures I can post so I have included the ones most relevant. You can check out a few short videos of it on YouTube of when it was running. If you live near Hendersonville Tennessee and want to come check it out before you bid I will try to meet you, but be warned I love talking about it, and if you see it in person you will like it even more! A few day of elbow grease and a couple new parts and you will have a very cool and unique ride that will bring you as many years of happiness as it did me!
Can help load depending on timing and can also put you in touch with a great guy with a flatbed wrecker that would deliver within a hundred miles or so.
I"m selling it as-is described to the best of my knowledge
One last thing, please don"t bid if you don"t intend to pay or if you have 0 feedback, this will make everyone"s life easier. Thanks!
