Vehicle description

This is a no reserve auction for a 1982 Datsun by Nissan 280 ZX. It belongs to a neighbor of mine and was his wife"s car. It has been sitting for a good while, somewhere between seven and 10 years and has not seen the road in that long. I restore Studebakers so this is not my typical kind of car. I"m not a Z car guy but will describe what is here best I am able. Take this car for parts or restoration. It had lots of acorns in the engine compartment. I cleaned it up and checked/renewed all its fluids, put new gas and a battery in it and it fired right up. It sounds good but obviously needs some TLC. The clutch and tranny feel fine. It is rusty in sections. It appears to have a poorly designed battery box that collects stuff and it is rusty under the box down to and including the frame rail directly below. I see a patch in the tow section of the floor. I see rust cracking the paint above the windshield. The rest doesn"t look too bad. I had my welder look at it and he called it typical to that car and said yes it is fixable but you might just want to call it a parts car. The mechanics and the interior are pretty good for 35 years old. There is one small split in the drivers seat and some wear in the typical spot. There are no tears in the rest of the seats. They are leather with velour sections that say 280 ZX on them. I tried saddle soap on them and they clean up but the car still needs a good deal of cleaning. The door panels are good. There are no cracks in the dash. It looks pretty nice and all the gauges and lights work. At 197,000 miles for a nissan motor, I guess its just about broken in. I have not done anything with the brakes. There is pressure but I haven"t used them because I don"t want them to grab and not let go. I have only moved the car around the yard. It"s a pretty cool car, well designed except for the battery box, lots of power, a 180 hp six with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection, a five speed manual gear box and even a cassette player, but it does need a total going over, or you can take it apart and have lots of good parts for your Z car project. I may be able to help with delivery depending on how far away you might be. Email me with any questions. I am trying to sell the car locally and will take a deal if offered so I reserve the right to end this auction.
