Vehicle description
Up for auction is this 1982 Datsun 280 ZX. This 280 has not been run in a while and it is 36 years old so it will need some work. The car has some excellent features. It is powered by Nissan’s 2.8L straight SOHC six-cylinder engine (L28E). The E stood for electronic multiport fuel injection, provided by Bosch using the L-Jetronic system, and is one of the first Japanese-produced vehicles to introduce the technology. For 1981 through 1983, the L28E received flat top pistons and a high quench head, raising the compression ratio to 8.8:1. Backing the engine is Borg-Warner’s T-5 five-speed manual transmission, which included one overdrive gear and a lightweight aluminum housing. The dash board looks great. No cracks, no warps. All of the gauges work as do the lights, power windows, etc. The door panels are very good and the leather seats are good with minor wear on the driver"s seat. The carpets are light colored and have some stains. Some of the vinyl in the trunk area is split. This car has been sitting for quite some time in my neighbor"s yard. I cleaned it up and got it running but it will need some restoration. It has some rust from sitting so it is either a bit of a project or it is a parts car. Buyer"s choice. I had a welder look at it . He said the rust is typical to this car; rusty under the battery holder and up near the front where the tow hooks are bolted on to the frame. I see a bit of rust on the back wheel well and a bit above the windshield. The car starts right up and the tranny and clutch feel fine but the brakes are stuck and will need to be done. You can not get in this car and drive it away because of the brakes. I don"t want to work on this car and so we have a low starting price with no reserve. I do not have a title for this car. It was lost long ago and Ct. does not require titles on older cars. I will provide a proper bill of sale. Hopefully someone has the enthusiasm to fix this up or has a similar car that needs some great parts. If you have any questions call Tim at 860 819 1931. Thank you.
