1980 Firebird Trans Am Just recently picked up this Firebird thinking I could restore it for my daughter, but she says it"s not a True Bandit Trans Am so she doesn"t want it. So here it is for sale. The couple I got it from had the original 301 rebuilt about 10 to 11 years ago, had new Tires put on and then for whatever their reason was parked it shortly thereafter. And It"s been parked by the side of their house for at least 10 years. According to the Odometer the mileage is 17239.9 Not sure if that"s the accurate mileage before or after rebuild. When I got it I put some gas in it and she fired right up. It runs great and Has good power for a 301. Transmission shifts fine. It goes good down the road, but at higher speeds it does start a shimmy, which is most likely the tires since they"ve been sitting so long. It has breaks but they don"t stop too well. You know that saying "stops on a dime"? Well this stops on a dollar. So it needs break work. They do stop just not very well. Has a new $140 battery. Has new exhaust that they put on as well before it was parked. As you can see in the pictures it has some rust. It"s in the usual places where mud gets flung up. On the passenger side you"ll see a dent. I guess someone backed into it back in the day when they were still driving it. Never got it fixed. All the wheel well openings are really good. The trunk is great. The original color is yellow and at some point they painted it white but they didn"t do a good job in my opinion because they didn"t do the engine compartment. The A/C might work if it"s recharged but not sure. I haven"t had this car for long to figure out all its issues.
