Vehicle description
This is a NO RESERVE auction, there is no Buy it now price. It takes time, money and effort to post on here, so serious buyers only , please!
This is a pretty original old scout, it has not been registered or on the road since the 1990"s! Its been off the road and a project and is now running and driving once again!
The truck was last registered 1997, and parked because the shifter cable had melted against the exhaust manifold, a common problem. The cable was replaced, and moved away from the exhaust. Fairly soon after, the transmission started acting up, so a very thorough rebuild was done , at the cost of about $3000, and taking 4 weeks to complete. In addition to the rebuild, a new transmission pan, resealed transfer case, and new u-joints were also done. The transmission comes with a transferrable, 3 year, 50k warranty provided by a nationwide chain transmission shop. The scout transmission was just finished on 9/02/2020. Some of the other new/recent parts are the brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, soft brake lines, fuel lines, gas tank and sender, carburetor, spark plugs, wires, coil, fuel lines, high pressure power steering hose/new fluid, and other mechanical bits. New 31 inch all terrain tires have been installed, and have less than 50 miles on them. A new turn signal switch was also installed. The floors are in good condition, there are a couple small patches in the foot wells, floor has been covered in bed liner for protection and ease of cleaning. The truck has been repainted in the original mint green color , reproduction vinyl graphics grace the side panels. Seats were just professionally redone in a close match to the original color, but in a nicer quality material, they look and feel nice The body is pretty nice too, no major damage that I have found. Odometer Shows around 59000 miles, its probably accurate but can"t verify. The original jack is still under the hood, all the water and overflow bottles are still there.
This scout has the 304 v-8, auto transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, 60/40 front bench/ rear seat, roll bar, removable top, wagon wheels, 4 wheel drive, locking front hubs. The original AM radio is still in the uncut dash!
This is a pretty solid Texas truck that has been off the road for more than half its life, so its probably in better condition and lower miles than the majority out there. Having said that, it is still over 40 years old it is not perfect, and may need some more adjustments/tinkering/finishing. It is not a new Honda, but it is a simple beast that is fun and easy to work on, if you are into that type of thing! The transmission shop did a thorough test drive and the truck did well , so probably 20 or so miles worth of driving on it since being put back together. You are bidding to OWN the scout, not the right of first refusal therefore the $500 deposit is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable, you are welcome to ask questions or set up a time to come see it and I will do my best to accommodate you. Texas title in hand. Thanks for looking!
