Vehicle description
Truck is located in Cullman, AL. I flew to California to buy this Scout from the 2nd owner, a lady, who owned the truck since the early 90s. Truck is truly a survivor and has not been altered from the day it came from the factory with the exception of the wheels and tires.
Truck is a 345 V8, factory 4 barrel, 3.73 axles, limited slip rear diff, power steering, power brakes. Auto, A/C, Cruise, factory off road package which included heavy duty springs and different (white) wheels. I have 3 of the original wheels. It had these 3 and a spare on it when I bought it so I put on some black wagon wheels I had temporarily. I"ll include the 3 factory wheels with the truck. The factory HD springs equate to about 2" of lift. It has 31 x 10.50s on it now and they don"t rub at all. I have the factory line setting ticket. If you"re interested I"ll email you a copy.
4wd works flawlessly in high and low. The lady I bought it from said she"d never used 4wd the whole time she owned it.
* HAS FACTORY CA EMISSIONS* all of which is connected still, including the smog pump. Truck also has a catalytic converter. I was told it would pass CA emissions and that she had to add the catalytic converter a few years back. We don"t have emissions so I don"t know but it"s all there.
Speedometer was broken when I got it at 68k miles. I replaced it when I got it and changed the oil. It"s been 2100 miles and is still on full and oil looks like honey. Previous owner estimated the speedo broke a year ago so I"m guessing the mileage around 80k tops. Truck does not smoke nor does it drip oil. Cruse control components are all there but it"s not connected to the carb.
Interior is light blue plaid and is a 1979 exclusive one only pattern. Driver"s seat needs recovering. Carpet is likewise original and in decent shape overall. It"s "missing" behind the passenger from people getting in and out of the backseat. I"ve taken a picture of the floor under the factory pad / mat. Only surface rust and very little.
Bed area has some surface rust that could be easily wire wheeled, treated, POR-15"d, and then roll white bedliner over it. The lady I bought it from was a surfer and used to throw her wet stuff in the back. Hence the surface rust there.
I"ve taken pictures of the body mounts. All are solid as are the floors, rockers, and quarters. The only rust in the truck is some surface rust here and there. The worst is the spot in the bed.
Body has never been repainted. This is the factory paint and factory woodgrain on the side.
Issues The factory 4 barrel carburetor (Thermoquad) was never regarded as a good carb. It runs fine, but has the slightest bit of hesitation sometime. You may never notice it, it"s subtle. The radiator has recently developed a slight leak. It might lose a cup or two every time you drive it. Wipers don"t work. Turn signal lever doesn"t "stay" when you turn left or right. I just hold it up or down but I have a spare column and can include the pieces needed to fix. Belt is off of the A/C Compressor. I"ve never put one back on it so I don"t know if the air works but the fan comes on as it should. If you have any questions, kindly call / text me at 256-735-3745. This is what I like to call "grandpa fresh." It hasn"t been messed with, chopped up, lifted, motor swapped, etc. This is an all original survivor and an excellent example of a Scout II.
