My uncle purchased this car new in 1977. I have much of the original paperwork. He ordered it with the 260ci engine and a 5 speed manual. He drove the car until 2005, when I purchased it from him. I drove the car for 2 years and decided it was time to upgrade. I replaced the 260ci motor and 5 speed transmission with a built 455ci motor mated to a Monster built TH400 transmission. The 455 has been bored .30 over, new pistons with 10:1 compression ratio, has a mild Comp cam, aluminum Edlebrock intake, Holley 760 double pumper carb, HIE distributor, Jet coated headers connected to a 2.5” duel exhaust from Summit Racing. The rear is a 10 bolt posi with 3:23 gears. The motor was dynoed before being put in the car and has 400hp and 400 pound feet of torque. It runs and drives great, plenty of power and that smooth ride that the older cars are famous for. It definitely gets attention whenever I go for a cruse. The car has been gone through, anything that needed replacing was replaced. I have put about 2000 miles on the car since the overhaul. The interior is in very good condition. I replaced the carpet, added a Sunpro tachometer and Sunpro triple gauge pod. I also installed a Hurst ratcheting shifter. The car is not perfect but a very nice driver. The paint is bubbling around the vinyl top and behind the rear wheels. I am selling because I purchased a convertible and enjoy driving that more when the weather is nice.
