This 2-owner restored 1977 Fiat X1/9 is in excellent condition. It starts, runs and drives excellent and definitely gets lots of looks and comments!
The car features a rebuilt, bored-over 1.3 liter engine with all new internal components, high performance cam, new head, seals, belts, etc. It has been retrofitted with a rebuilt 5-speed manual transmission out of a later model including new clutch, axles and wheel bearings.
The car also has many upgraded and new parts such as Panasport wheels, Yokahama S-Drive tires, complete new fuel system, complete new cooling system (including all hoses), complete smog system, complete suspension rebuild (including struts, tie rods, bushings, bearings, etc). The X1/9 came from the factory with 4-wheel disc brakes which have been entirely replaced with all new components. B oth floor pans have been upgraded with ones made of thicker steel. The paint is older, but does buff out pretty well as seen in the photos.
The interior has been totally refreshed with a rebuilt dashboard (likely the only early-model X1/9 in existence with a perfect dash), new carpet, custom seat covers, new stereo/speakers (hands free and smart phone capable) and top with headliner off a later model.
The X1/9 was designed by Bertone and manufactured by Fiat. With a transverse engine and gearbox in a mid-mounted, rear-wheel drive configuration, the car was noted for its balanced handling, retractable headlights, lightweight-removable hardtop and front/rear-storage compartments.
