Vehicle description
1976 International Harvester Scout - I"ll type this through my tears of sadness at letting this truck go. .
I hate to part with this truck, but I just don"t have the time and energy to do it justice anymore. It runs and drives fine, but does pee a little coolant, so it drives fine for about 20-30 minutes before it wants to overheat. I suspect that it is the water pump, so a NEW water pump and gasket are included.
Engine runs really well, and the more you run it, the better it runs. Automatic transmission shifts as it should. Power brakes, manual (but easy) steering. Transfer case works as it should, along with locking hubs in front. Lock the hubs, put in into "4L" and you could push/pull your mother-in-law anywhere. Top comes off easily for summer super-fun times.
This was my daily driver from when I bought it in 2012 until the coolant leak started in 2016, at which point I parked it and only drove occasionally. It has been stored inside my garage the entire time, and is in pretty good shape.
Aftermarket detachable-face stereo with CD player and iPod connection in glove box. iPod not included. (I know you"re disappointed). Lockable Tuffy center console installed since you probably won"t be locking the actual truck.
Also included: newer-style taillights and connectors, bikini top/hardware, original hubcaps, Thule roof rack system with MOAB basket, big tub of other miscellaneous parts, a bunch of really cool bumper stickers, and probably actual blood, sweat, and tears of mine seeped into interior carpet.
This truck is rough and ready, emphasis on the "rough" part. A little work could make for a really great truck, though, so please don"t be scared away by the usual soft/rusty spots that you find on Scouts. Rockers in particular are starting to rot, but that"s a given with these vehicles. Some rust coming back along seams, but not too badly. Interior is dirty/musty, but should clean up fine.
It runs and drives, but you will NOT be driving this thing home. It will drive up onto a trailer or tow truck just fine, though.
