I get stopped and asked questions about it anytime I take it out. This car has been garaged most of its life and sat most of the past 15 years. I purchased the car about 1.5-2 years ago and went through it mechanically. Items replaced include the following: -Refinished wheels with new tires -Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Distributor, Cap, Rotor -Clutch Master, Clutch Slave, Clutch Soft Line. -Front end links and bushings -Brake Master, Rear Brake Cylinder, Rear Drum, Rear Drum Shoes, Front Rotors, Front Pads -New Starter, Battery, Battery Cables, OEM Battery Tray and Battery Tie Down -OEM Metal Wiper Blades -Driver Door Handle (new oem nissan) -All OEM Shifter Seals, Bushings, Boots inner and outer, and hardware (shifter has no play) and Shift Knob -Reproduction Seat Covers Installed along with a dash cover. All of this was done in addition to a new OEM nissan oil filter, air filter, and oil change. The Braking system was fully bled and flushed with new fluid. Mechanically the car is in good shape overall, but it is a 45 year old vehicle so there is always something to do. It will need shocks at some point and I am including a new transmission mount as well. The good is the car fires right up, idles, and runs beautifully. There is no smoke or hesitation whatsoever. It shifts great between gears and there are no grinds or hangups. The clutch catches right in the middle of the stroke and does not slip at all. The new tires and wheels are balanced and the car was aligned after the new tires and end links and tracks straight and smooth down the road. Acceleration from 2.8 L28 is solid and strong from gear to gear. The brakes stop ok but are known to be the weak point in these s30"s hence most of them have been converted to 4 wheel larger discs and calipers. Even with a mostly new braking system they leave some braking power to be desired. There is no vibration when braking.
The exterior of this car is in good overall shape but does have some minor deficiencies. The paint presents well overall however there is some light etching in the passenger fender from some sort of tape residue. The passenger battery cover is slightly bent and chipped, the passenger door has 2 dings shown in photos, and there is some light paint bubbling/chipping under gas door. The front and rear bumper rubber shows signs of age and does have some splitting a cracking but is all there to either repair or upgrade to the early 70"s 240z bumpers which I planned to do. The chrome and brightwork is in very nice shape throughout. There is no rot or rust on the underside of this 280z. The bottom of the car was undercoated when new and helped protect it. This car is not driven in winter or salty roads. There is slight paint bubbling near front of rear quarters from rock chips/slight surface rust. There is no sign of bondo or filler on the car. It was repainted to Wine Red some time in the 1990"s from a metallic beige originally and the engine bay was sprayed black. The exhaust system is in good condition as well, no holes or damage. The exhaust tip is polished to a high gloss shine. This car had a full detail done last month including light paint correction. The interior of this 280z overall in in good shape. The door panels are in good condition and the headliner is nice with one small cut in photos. New OEM styel seat covers were installed and the originals do come with the car as well. A new leather shift boot was also added at that time. There are no unusual smells or odors. Car is dry inside and is a smoke free/mouse free 280z. The car comes with rubber mats. Interior floor pans are rust and rot free as well. There is an aftermarket leather steering wheel cover installed over the factory and gives a nice feel. The trunk carpet is original and in fair condition. The car includes factory jack and handles, tool kit pouch, and factory spare in good shape. The a/c system has a slow leak and will need to be recharged/repaired. The fans/blowers work well. The stereo is an older aftermarket unit. Overall this car is a solid example of a 280z. The next owner will enjoy and make it their own and hope to see it be in the hands of an enthusiast. If you have any questions please just ask! If you need the vehicle shipped anywhere I have a reliable shipper I use and trust and can get you a competitive shipping quote. Payment must be made either Cash in person, Bank Wire Transfer, or Certified Bank check. The 280z will be sold on a clean title and bill of sale. Sale includes all records/receipts, 3 sets of wheels and tires, and any and all spare/original parts.
