Vehicle description
This auction is for a 1974 Mercedes-Benz 280C 2 Dr Coupe runs and drives - NO RESERVE.
Designed by Paul Bracq, the W114 series M110 engine displaces 2746cc. With double overhead cams and a cross flow cylinder head it puts out 130bhp. The coupe came standard with; ball and joint independent front suspension, disc brakes, rear wheel drive, automatic transmission with 5-mph US spec bumpers. Unique to this model is the center console (a first) and ribbed tail lights. These vehicles have a great ride and handle well.
This vehicle had previously suffered some front end collision damage. After body repairs and repainting, the vehicle languished in a shop for many years before being purchased by the current owner 2010. After minor mechanical service and completion of the cosmetic reassembly, the vehicle was put it back in service and used as a daily driver for several years.
The vehicle was subsequently removed from service after suffering damage to the left rear quarter. Parts were collected to effect the cosmetic repairs, but current owner has lost interest, having too many other projects.
The car does run and stop, with tires having recently been fitted. A new battery and muffler were installed in January 2020.
Condition of vehicle: 1. Left rear fender requires repair, panels included (see below)
2. Floors have some rust 3. Needs body and paintwork 4. Interior vinyl upholstery in good; driver"s seat has two small holes that have been repaired, rear passenger left hand seat cushion has a small tear, head rests need new padding, headlining near perfect.
8. Dash; overlay looks nice, original finish on wood starting to fail.
9. Odometer and a/c not currently working.
