1973 Volkswagen Transporter (BUS) is a solid bodied van. It is a type II engine with a rarely seen automatic transmission. Very little rust on the body. Only a few spots by the front window. There is some rust in the passenger side floor pan, and behind the front seats (see pics). I have ran a magnet around and only found one small spot where it has had some work. About a softball size behind the drivers door where I assume there is some filler. The engine runs and will drive. It has a ruff idle and needs help to stay running. I believe the ruff idle is from a vacuum line issue, but have not had time to track it down. I drive it around the block every couple months to keep it up. It has new valve springs and a year old battery. Odometer reads 27,739. No idea if this is actual miles or not. A small oil leak, I believe is from the valve cover. It was not leaking before we changed the valve springs, and now it is. This is a great van if you are looking for one that will not take a lot of cosmetic work. As seen in the photos it will need interior. My wife really wants me to fix this up for us, but I simply do not have the time. I have decided to sell it and become that guy who talks to people when they are filling up their bus and say to them, "You know I used to have an old Bus." They will pretend to care until they can get out of the conversation, and on the road. The Bus is located in Duncan Oklahoma. Please contact me with any questions.
