Vehicle description

This is a NO RESERVE auction, there is no buy it now price. It takes time, money and effort to post on here, so serious buyers only, please!
This is a pretty original old scout, it has not been registered or on the road since the 1980"s! Its been off the road and a project and is now running and driving once again!
The truck was last registered 1988, and parked for unknown reasons. This scout was dragged out of retirement after a lot of work! The engine was pulled to replace the throw out bearing and freeze plugs. Since the engine was already out, it got a freshening up, with new piston rings, cylinders were honed, some new push rods, valves were removed, cleaned and serviced. Valve seats were also inspected/serviced. of course it got a new head gasket, pan gasket, timing cover kit and valve cover gasket. A new water pump, thermostat, high capacity aluminum radiator were also added, along with a new carburetor, and electric fuel pump. Fresh fan belt, battery, oil and filter tops it off. Engine has less than 5 miles on it since being reinstalled, so not even broken in yet! Some of the other new/recent parts are the brake master cylinder, wheel cylinders, soft brake lines, fuel lines, gas tank , rubber body mounts, spark plugs, wires, coil, starter, fuel lines, New 30 inch all terrain tires have been installed on new steel wheels and have less than 10 miles on them. Rear differential received new main bearings and gear oil change. The floors are in very good condition, floor has been covered in bed liner for protection and ease of cleaning. The bed is in really nice shape! Its painted body color, very straight back there! The truck has been repainted, looks to be a couple years old, a few chips, imperfections etc., but still looks good! body looks very solid, doors open and close very nice! Seats were just replaced with new off road suspension fronts buckets, and a rear bench. Odometer Shows a little under 60000 miles, its probably accurate but can"t verify. Title says it had 16,464 original miles in 1984, and was then parked by 1989, so most likely accurate? Truck fires right up and runs well, shifts through all the gears, fun to drive!
This scout has the 4 speed transmission, removable top, d- shape pattern wheels, 4 wheel drive, locking front hubs. It looks like all the a/c components are there except for the compressor. The original AM radio is still in the uncut dash!
This is a pretty solid Texas truck that has been off the road for more than half its life, so its probably in better condition and lower miles than the majority out there. Having said that, it is still over 40 years old it is not perfect, and may need some more adjustments/tinkering/finishing. It is not a new Honda! You are bidding to OWN the scout, not the right of first refusal, therefore the $500 deposit is due at the end of the auction and is not refundable, you are welcome to ask questions or set up a time to come see it and I will do my best to accommodate you. Texas title in hand. Thanks for looking!
