Vehicle description
I APOLOGIZE TO EVERYONE WHO TOOK THE TIME TO READ MY ORIGINAL LISTING. I MADE A ROOKIE MISTAKE THAT CAUSED EBAY MOTORS TO REFRESH THE LISTING WHICH ERASED THE RESERVE PRICE. I JUST NOTICED THE RESERVE WAS MISSING A COUPLE OF HOURS AGO AND I HAD TO END THE AUCTION. I"VE REDUCED THE AUCTION TO 5 DAYS TO KEEP THE END DATE AS CLOSE TO THE ORIGINAL AS POSSIBLE. SORRY FOR ANY INCONVENIENCE.
This auction is for a beautiful numbers matching, air conditioned, automatic transmission 1973 Datsun 240Z that is ready to drive and enjoy just the way it currently stands. No additional work is needed. This car is in excellent mechanical, interior, body/structural, paint, and fit/finish condition. I was told it was originally a Texas car. I purchased it around 2 years ago from a friend who owned it for 30 years and only drove it enough to keep it fresh. I want to provide sufficient information so you can see what an exceptional example this car represents. So please go to the following website for 80+ additional photos: https:/ www.photo-pick.com/online/79y24mvY.link and please read on.
Body/Structural Condition: This car has very little rust. The structural undercarriage only had some light surface rust where the paint was scratched. I have cleaned off the rust and painted these areas. Inside the doors, fenders, floors, rockers, etc has no rust at all that I could find. The only place where some pitting rust was found was under the spare tire where the drain plug as missing and water must have accumulated. I cleaned off the rust, painted it with Eastwood rust encapsulator and coated the pitted areas in the low sections with seam sealer to keep moisture away in the future. There"s a photo in the online album to see this area and the underside of the vehicle, including wheel well photos.
Paint and finish: The car was originally silver and had a color change to white using acrylic enamel early in it"s history. The paint has an excellent shine and the car looks exceptional at all distances and angles. There are a couple small dings and some filled rock chips around the car from normal wear and tear through the years. All of these are minor and do not show up well on photos, or unless you very closely inspect the car. The paint on this car, including the wheels is truly a show stopper. The front bumper chrome is in very good condition. The rear bumper chrome is in good condition, but does have some pitting in the area under the chrome bar which is not readily visible.
Interior: I had the seats recovered professionally with new foam and high quality original duplicating covers. New carpet has been installed. The original rubber 240Z mats with medium wear are available for use if desired. The padded dash has two small areas (about the size of a nickle) with cracking present. These area is above the speedometer. See photo in the online album. The original steering wheel and horn button are on the car. The clock does not work, but all other gauges and lights do operate. There is a red square push button in the center console by the hand brake that is not hooked up to anything and I don"t know what"s it"s supposed to do. The center console plastic is in very good condition with only minor cracks. The original radio and antenna operate correctly. The cruise control has all the components present but it doesn"t operate. This could be a minor issue, I haven"t tried to fix it.
Mechanical: The car starts, runs, stops, and drives well. The ARA dealer installed air conditioner operates and blows cold air. I have installed the following new parts on the car: alternator, battery, aluminum radiator and hoses, starter, transmission flex plate, windshield washer pump, rear brake shoes/wheel cylinders/hardware, fan belts, custom oversized exhaust system, transmission filter/rear seal, thermostat, water pump, front sway bar links. I cleaned and rebuilt the two round top carburetors. The smog pump has been removed. The exhaust manifold has the re-circulation air tubes installed so reinstalling the smog pump would not be a big issue if you needed to. The electric fuel pump operates correctly. I also removed, cleaned and lubricated the windshield wiper linkage. The brake fluid has been flushed and replaced. The front disc brakes were in good order and did not need any repairs. The suspension, both front and back were inspected and found to be in good repair.
Wheels and Tires: The wheels are color matched, period correct, Western turbine aluminum and the tires are 4 new Michelin Defender 195/70 R14.
Thank you for looking at my auction and please do not hesitate to send me any questions or request additional photos. I want you to feel as comfortable with the car as if you walked around and drove it. Local inspections can also be arranged. I am available to assist with shipping logistics on this end if desired. The final sale is as is, where is, with no warranty. Call or text me at if you need to discuss any issues you see.
