Vehicle description
1973 AMC JAVELIN Power steering – Power Brakes – Automatic
Factory A/C – 360- 2V This was a running and driving two-owner car from Georgia when we purchased it.
The original family owned it until 2011 when it was sold to a neighbor who did not license it.
We have a copy of the original title, as well as other paperwork.
It came with, what looks like, the original “Javelin” key fob and owner’s manual. This was a very solid car. We have pictures of it. The floor boards were like new.
I would believe the mileage at 118,000, as that’s how it looked and drove. All trim and chrome were removed, except above doors, and cleaned and polished.
The car was professionally painted.
A new alabaster vinyl top was professionally installed.
The interior was removed, cleaned and refurbished.
Original style seat covers were purchased from Legendary and professionally installed.
New carpet was installed.
All seat belts were cleaned. They work correctly and look good.
A new windshield was installed.
New weather stripping was installed.
The engine compartment was detailed, as shown in pictures.
A complete new exhaust was installed.
The original Magnum wheels were blasted, powder coated and painted. The trim rings and center caps are new.
New raised white letter tires were installed and balanced.
The trunk was very solid. It was just repainted as original. The original space saver spare, jack and tire tools are there.
The original AM-FM-Stereo radio works, with 4 original stock mounted speakers. The car came equipped with a Fade control, and it works. The buttons work correctly.
A new battery, struts and shocks were installed.
New bumpers were installed without the rubber bumperettes. All are in good condition and stowed in the trunk.
The A/C is complete. The fan works, and the clutch engages when turned on. It has not been recharged.
Headlights, turn signals, marker lights, wipers, and washers all work.
All fluids and filters were changed.
It starts, runs, stops and drives very nicely. It gets a lot of attention. It is not perfect, but very nice. No mechanical work was done, except as mentioned, and it could use a little.
The price reflects that. I’ve run out of time. It hesitates shifting into third gear. If you let up on the gas above 30 MPH, it shifts fine.
The shift indicator was broken. It’s a little flat piece of plastic listed at about $20, but currently unavailable. We made a piece for it, and it works, but it’s a little sloppy.
The charging light glows very faintly when running. It’s very bright when starting and goes down quickly. It is charging.
The speedometer is a little noisy and jumpy over 30 MPH.
The remote outside mirror is not perfect. The chrome shows age. The remote works smoothly and looks good. The glass is fine.
The gas gauge works but is not accurate…what’s new!
The car is available for inspection at any time in Punta Gorda Florida. Call me (Trevor) at with any questions or for additional information. THE CAR MUST BE PICKED UP BY APRIL 1 ST ! or other arrangements made, as we are leaving Florida on April 2 nd . A $500 deposit is due within 24 hours and final payment may be made by cashier’s check or wire transfer. This is a NO RESERVE auction.
