Vehicle description
Driven little since purchase - NM title showed mileage at 80171EL (Exceeds Limits) at purchase several years ago. True mileage unknown
Previous very long-term owner kept car in pristine shape and upgraded it substantially over the years using mostly Volvo NOS parts. All chrome and stainless trim is excellent with minor dings on one of the rear "wing" trim pieces. Car looks and drives like a 1972, 5 year old (or less), car.
Dash pad is new (not capped); flat rate labor to remove and replace the dash is approximately 15 hours.
Seats are tan leather faced, carpets are very good to excellent.
Show quality paint was done within last couple of years.
Upgrades from IPD are period correct.
This is one of the cleanest 1800ES" in the country. It is not a quick "lipstick on a pig" car prompted when two of these cars (one in this color combination) sold for more than $92,000 each in 2014.
Aftermarket radio does not work - don"t have the heart to drill hole in the pristine body for antenna.
Remember this is a 46 year old limited production car. It does not drive like a new Ferrari or Maserati although arguably it has more style. The ES (wagon) body style was 2 year only production with the 1972 more "pure" as it doesn"t have the federally mandated 1973 shock absorbing bumpers.
Engine is Bosch fuel injected B20 2.0L (many injector parts interchange with Mercedes and Porsche of similar vintage). When running correctly as this car does, the Bosch fuel injection is more powerful and drivable than the earlier carbureted 1800s.
Please ask questions before bidding. All sales are final without any warranty expressed or implied.
Looking for a cheap 1800ES? I have a solid desert 1973 needing everything; quite original, uncut dash, A/C. etc. Or very high end a 100% restoration 1973ES being finished. Wife says I am too old and need to sell a few toys.
