At more than 19-feet in total length, this 1972 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight Coupe could easily be considered to be your stereotypical 1970s land yacht. It has remained in the same family since new. However, the time has come for it to find its way to a new home. It is located in sunny Phoenix Arizona.

This fine automobile was special ordered and shipped from Chicago Illinois to Phoenix Arizona in 1971. Still haves the original Arizona white title, this vehicle runs drives and performs just as good as it looks. Mechanically sound except for one minor exhaust leak on the exhaust. Believe it or not AC and heater still works and blows although the a ir-conditioning does need a recharge. This car was always babied and driven weekends. Always serviced mechanically whether it needed it or not. As you can tell very well-maintained interior and exterior. The vehicle was repainted approximately in the late 90s very solid undercarriage with no rust, all of the body panels is in outstanding condition, only sign of rust is under the vinyl top. Paint Still signs and still looks amazing although up close you’ll notice minor paint chips or nicks can easily be touched up. ( see images below )
T he 98 shared its General Motors C-Body platform with Buick and Cadillac.
Thes e “gentleman’s coupes” were built in both Lansing, Michigan and Linden, New Jersey back in the heyday of this now defunct automaker. I have been unable to locate any production numbers for this sweet old coupe but I am fairly confident they are a rare breed these days. Unlike the often seen Coupe de Ville of this era, this may be the only one of these i have ever seen.
It does, however, possess the Oldsmoble Rocket 455, spec’ed at 340 horsepower, mated to a TH-400 three speed automatic transmission. The Rocket is the first post war over head valve motor produced by General Motors. That introduction was in 1949 and later a newer generation was introduced in 1964. Until the demise of that highly regarded motor, they all were built at the Lansing, Michigan Oldsmobile plant .

Due to age and condition this vehicle is being sold AS IS without any refunds or compensations! This by far is not a Barrett Jackson vehicle but a nice cruiser that needs minor TLC. Being original interior, drivetrain and being 49 years old cosmetically you’ll notice minor dings or defects aka character! Please bid to win. No zero or negative feedback bidders. My best suggestion is to call me before bidding. I also have this vehicle listed locally and have the ability to end my auction early any time i want.
Good luck and happy bidding!
