Vehicle description
This car has been off the road for 22 months & only because I came by a newer truck, before that it was my daily transportation. I planned to restore it but as there are other cars + m/cycles ahead of it & my present health issues I can"t see it happening & I need the room.
I did not build this car but it is pretty much as I bought it several years ago + a LOT of replacement parts. Engine 460TPI from a 95 F250. Burns regular gas. Runs fantastic. I was told it had around 40K miles on it & I"ve probably doubled that. The engine has OBD1 diagnostics, not OBD2. [keeps things simple]
Transmission is an AOD [not an AODE which this engine would have had] it was built to tow & the builder did not want a lockup converter.
Axle Ford 9in LSD. There are 2 electric fans, radiator was rebuilt 2 years ago. It has an aftermarket AC/Heater but I only used it for heat. AC will need a condenser & hoses, engine has AC compressor.
Over the years I"ve replaced: upper & lower ball joints, sway bar bushings [it also has a rear sway bar] all front suspension bushings, control arm bushings front & rear [all polyurethane] all 4 shocks, all 4 coil springs, starter motor, alternator brushes, front & rear brakes, master cylinder, front & rear wheel bearings, motor & transmission mounts, dash cap, door & window weather seals. All the hard mechanical work is done.
I"ve always run synthetic oil & used NAPA gold filters. Air intake filter is K&N washable.
The interior is a mess as you can see, needs insulation finishing, carpet, headliner, it"s hard to restore a car when you drive it every day! It has a tilt steering column & the seats are from a Dodge Caravan {rear passenger] & very comfortable. The door panels are pretty good & from a 73, so is the instrument panel cover but I have the original.
The wheels are barely 4 year old Rallye wheels & the tires are practically new Coopers.
This car is FAST! However, the ECM cuts it out at 80mph. I think the engine & ECM must be from a fleet vehicle hence it"s governed. I"ve never tried to replace the ECM or have it recalibrated. 80mph is fast enough for me at my age!
The prior owner moved the tank filler to the corner of the bed, also moved the door mirrors back a few inches. He also had the tank modified for EFI. There is an in line electric pump [Accel as I recall]. There is a welded on class 3 receiver hitch behind the license plate that folds down. Like I said this car was built to tow.
This is a solid car. There is some rust in the bed [see pics] the "swiss cheese" is where you see the black tape, but not difficult to do by a good metal man, otherwise bed is solid. I got several parts along with the car when I bought it. Power window regulators [lincoln], 2 bumpers & many other parts.
According to the vin it is not a GT. I think I have described this car & priced it fairly. I am not making a dime considering the time & $$ I"ve put into it. This vehicle is nearly 50 years old which should be brought into consideration. Vehicle must be removed within 7 days. Vehicle runs and drives. Vehicle is not registered. License plate removed by AZ law.
