Vehicle description
19 1972 BMW 2002 "roundie" hot rod with upgraded engine, exhaust, suspension. Condition is Used. Mileage unknown, as speedo cable was missing when I bought her six years ago. I estimate that I have put 3,000 miles or less on this car since 2014 and it has been garaged every day. I have all of the chrome trim pieces and a Haynes repair manual. With polyurethane chassis bushings and shortened springs the ride is stiff, but it handles like a go kart. Many 2002s suffer from overheating issues in traffic, but I have experienced none.

Yes, cosmetically she needs work, especially paint and body. It has rust (see photos) behind both rear wheels, on rocker panel driver floor pan/pedal box and in spare tire bin. No rust at all on shock towers, engine bay and it"s solid structurally. It has had some filler in rear and trunk lid area. Outside rear view mirror glass, turn signal relay and stalk, speedo cable are missing. Some carpet pieces are missing. Crack in original dash. Needs some TLC detail work. Engine has a slight oil leak somewhere near back, but it doesn"t drip and I very seldom add any. Gearbox works great and clutch is smooth, but has the characteristic second gear downshift crunch noise that most old Bimmers have.
I have driven the car 200 miles in a stint a couple times. At 70 mph she happily runs at about 4,000 rpm with the 4-speed and gearing. You can own a fun little head turner that basically has the horsepower of a TII that fun and reliable to drive while you prep it for paint and body or track.
