(888) 761-1042 (888) 761-1042 Video 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W30 79305 Miles Saturn Gold Coupe 455ci V8 Automatic L Exterior Color: Saturn Gold Interior Color: Black Body Type: Coupe Transmission: Automatic Drivetrain: RWD Engine: 455ci V8 Mileage: 79,305 GR Auto Gallery is pleased to present this 1971 Oldsmobile 442 W30 for your consideration. The W-30 was a package option designed for the already popular Oldsmobile Cutlass 4-4-2. The project to reinvent the famous muscle car as a successful dragster started in 1964, and climaxed out of secrecy with the 1966 drag race like a jack-in-the-box. By 1967, the Cutlass 4-4-2 W-30 had fully come into its own. The 455 V8 fires to life and the automatic transmission shifts smoothly in all gears. It is finished in Saturn Gold and the body is straight and shows very well. The interior has black leather bucket seats with a center console, the light even comes on still when you open it up. Other highlights include power brakes, power steering, AM radio, vinyl top, owners manual and Protect-O-Plate. This is an excellent example and is priced to sell.
The Cutlass shared the GM A-body platform with many legendary cars (Chevrolet Chevelle, Pontiac GTO, Buick GS). Their flowing lines, mean stances, and ample room for plenty of power under the hood is exactly what you think of when you think of classic muscle car fun. The Oldsmobile 442 became its own model line in 1968 after being an option package for the Cutlass. 1970 was the pinnacle of performance from Oldsmobile. In order to keep up in the horsepower arms-race, General Motors dropped the cap on engine size in 1970, and Oldsmobile responded by making the Olds 455 V8 the standard 4-4-2 engine. Output was 365 hp (272 kW) and 500 lb·ft (680 N·m), with a 370 hp (276 kW) variant available with the W30 option
